The Role
Great placement, provided loads of insight into the business and carried out a variation of roles.
Every role I carried out, people always showed their gratitude for my help and I really felt part of the team.
My manager was great in helping me developing throughout the placement
I always had plenty of work to complete and my manager always made sure I had the right balance of work
I was really surprised with all the responsibility I was given, I had some fantastic opportunities and I could make the placement what I wanted it to be. No project was too small!
My skill set has grown massively and I have Marks & Spencer to thank for that, I feel I am going back to university a completely different person with so much confidence and I feel this will make such a difference when I return to University!
The Company
I found it difficult to adjust an office environment at first but found everyone was really welcoming which made it a lot easier to settle in quickly.
This was the one part of the placement that I felt was slightly unorganised, I did have a plan for my placement but things did change last minute and locations of where I was going. I struggled to adjust to this to begin with but soon realised this is what retail is like!
Marks and Spencer completely invested their time in me, even though I was completing work on a day to day basis I still felt M&S prioritised my learning over the work and never got me to complete work unless it would benefit me and my development
Subsidised Canteen
Financial Bonus
Working from home
Great! I have offered a permanent job for when I complete my degree and I will also be working one day a week with the business
The Culture
The other students were very welcoming and we went out a few times together
I lived at home during my placement so had no cost of living
Same as above, I lived at home
There wasn't many opportunities outside of work but this suited me fine as I lived at home
