The Role
Intellectualy stimulating with a fast paced environment. I had a varied mix of experiences from direct customer interaction to responsibility of my own probjects that directly effected the company.
I had a very strong team where my presence was highly valued and respected, regardless of what role I was preforming at the time. My line manager was very supportive and colleges patient and supportive during my learning on the job.
My line manager was very open and fair, and treated me as an equal. I could openly discuss any matter with them, whether that be personal or professional. They really helped me get a lot of experience and supported my targets and goals. They went out of their way to guide me and teach me what they knew. Personally, best manager I have had.
Some days were either so hectic that there was no time to sit, and other days were far too slow. However, this is the nature of working in Procurement and Logistics. My line manager always provided more projects if I required it if I feel I needed more stuff to do to keep me busy on the slower days.
I was given a lot of responsibility as I balanced two roles. The live projects I had contributed to savings and had me dealing with suppliers and clients directly. It was challenging but I thoroughly enjoyed being trusted to that level.
I have a better working business knowledge, especially of Procurement and Logistics and their impact on an industrial scale. I have also developed interpersonal skills which can be applied in other roles other than engineering.
The Company
Pretty friendly in all the offices I moved around in. Staff talkative and helpful. Had a good laugh and made some great friends. Some days could be pretty quiet but when things picked up, it could be quite loud. The offices I were in were all open plan offices, so sound obviously travels.
As my placement was not run of the mill, in that I had to move departments because of health reasons, I would say that there was a lack of structure from the actual program organisers. I had projects but there was no workshops, mentors or opportunities to obtain extra qualifications like that of those on the graduate program, which I think was a shame. There was not really any communication with the placement organisers either throughout the placement, although I do not know whether this was just the general case for all placement students.
There was no development other than what my line manager managed to prepare for me in relation to my role. I did, however, get the opportunity to carry out an international assignment with the support of my line manager, and managers from other Morgan divisions.

Personally, it will not be a company I will be able to work for in an engineering role because of my health, where ceramics are concerned. I would only be able to join the company via a commercial role.
The Culture
I did socialise with people from work, whether that be for drinks, meals and more commonly sports I.e. bouldering, running, gyms. I made some great friends and socialised with them outside of work. So I would say talk to people and see if.you have any common hobbies. The people there are very friendly.
Cost of living was very cheap in Kidderminster and I was lucky to have rent that included by bills for under £300 per month. I lived less than 5 min from the train station and.could easily travel back home, Worcester, London or Birmingham. Local amenities are cheap and local people are friendly.
Night life was terrible. Just local pubs. I am not a big drinker but a lot of work colleges went out in Birmingham.
Yes, as mentioned before, find colleges with similar interests to your own. If you drive you will be able.to get to.activities easily. If you walk, you are going to druggie to find things to do close by unless you can hitch a lift.
