    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • I really enjoyed my internship at KPMG. Everybdy was friendly to me and I got a lot of insights I did not expect. The internship was really valuabe to me since I now realise what it actually takes to be a consultant and how reality correlates to prejudices against consultants.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • I felt really valued at KPMG. My team was friendly and always willing to help. Besides, I got to know that KPMG has a compeltely different approach to HR than most other (consulting) firms. That’s probably also why average employee satisfaction is higher. Furthermore, my expertise and effort were astonishingly really valued.

    4/5

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • Guidance is a difficult word. As I said, people were happy to help. Furthermore, goals were clearly defined. However, I was free to solve problems and tasks however I want, and I see this as very a positive aspect as you cannot develop as a person unless you face difficulties.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The skills I learned are definitely valuabe for my later career. Basically, I lowered entry barriers to nearly zero for this specific industry, not because I know everything but rather because I know how people think and act and above all because I have an overview and know how to acquire skills fast. The skill to get skills is invaluable.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • As a result of my previous answer, the structure of my experience was a really good one. I never felt bored or too stressed. It was just the right level of work load and I realised that I did not only have to deliver results but I was engouraged to network and allocate time for personal development.

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • The atmosphere was quite competitive as you would expect from an internship at a prestigious firm. Everyone was trying to show leadership during group tasks which is a bit ridiculous in my opinion. Nevertheless, everyone was not arrogant or anything like that. We all networked with each other and I made some friends which I’ll probably stay longer in contact with.

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • KPMG prepared a very well internship and it was great to see the amount that the company invested into us. The employees very happy to take their time and to talk with us and to answer our questions. Furthermore, the activities and presentation were really helpful to answer the questions I had regarding a career.

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • I have always wanted to go into consulting firm and this internship only strengthened my endeavour to do so. I love the consulting industry and the rewards for working at a prestigious company. I cannot wait do finally graduate and pursue a career. The presentations about KPMG, seeing employees in action etc. were all helpful to get a good feeling of the company.

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • The insight was well designed and helped me a lot to gain an understanding of the culture at KMPG. The internship was only for a few days but it was enough to sense those things. I would have never gained this insight from reading reviews on the internet, it is something you have to experience.

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • I can definitely recommend this internship to anyone who is interested in a career in consulting. Everything was well explained and can give you the information you need to decide on whether you want to pursue a career or not. Especially for us first year students it is a great opportunity to experiment and see what we like or what we do not like.
