    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Very enjoyable rotating throughout the different departments. The staff were very welcoming and helpful.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • The majority of staff made a good effort to get to know me and make me feel welcome.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Limited guidance from mentor. Assigned mentor was on holiday so a replacement was drafted in who was only in the office for 2 of the 4 weeks.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I was kept relatively busy with personal tasks as well as many site visits outside of the office.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given a good amount of responsibility for the stage I am at with my University course.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I have developed my communication skills and commercial knowledge which will help massively when I go back to complete my final year of University.

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Lively office with some fun characters.

  • Reasonably well. Only issue was lack of mentor at the beginning of my placement.

  • Most of the departments made a good effort to invest in me.

  • Very good. Graduate opportunities are a very attractive prospect for the company and something I will be aiming to get myself involved with.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Reasonably good. A drinks event was organised for me and a office networking event took place.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Fair.

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Good, I am from Glasgow so I am aware of the great night life.

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Very little. Aside from the drinks event and networking event there was little opportunity to get involved with activities outside of work.
