    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • A totally new and enjoyable experience. The variety of work is enjoyable; there are numerous interesting projects going on. Meetings, site visits, client and supplier communication , and colleagues days out create an exciting environment . Looking at how the UK’s leading consultancy executes projects was an invaluable experience.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I was welcomed by my colleagues from day 1, as they asked me to join them for lunch. They viewed me as a person who is capable to achieve things rather than a mere student. This boosted my confidence to accomplish work. I felt valued and welcomed at Atkins .

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My line manager was my point of contact for any support needed. However, it is not college, so she will not be tutoring you! She introduced me to the staff during my first week, helped me get into interesting projects and was available for help whenever I needed support .

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I was fairly busy throughout the week. However, it was enjoyable, as time flew by during the day without noticing. I was allocated on several projects. Organization is vital here to deliver work properly. Prove yourself , and they will keep involving you in more work ! Its fun .

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • It was friendly and enjoyable atmosphere. Many facilities are there: laptops, big screens , printers , stationary , and meeting rooms . Lockers are provided too. It is quite a small office compared to some other branches within the UK. However, that is good because you will get to know more people personally in a small office.
