The Role
The work placement was brilliant. I had a daily desire to go into work and get on with the projects that I had been set.
I had a good relationship with all the staff in our department and people genuinely took an interest in my life. The banter between staff was very good making it easier to go to people when I needed help with a task.
My manager would always give advice when needed or requested by myself. My manager would often allow me to carry out tasks in my own way allowing me to learn from mistakes made on the way which has really benefited my development. My manager would allow me to learn about different departments within the company including visiting hospitals with Account managers and observing surgery.
There was always something that I could be doing at DePuy. If the workload became too heavy I could go to my manager and she would either advise on a better way of doing the work or have someone assist me on the task.
My manager would give me a project or I would see an area which I thought I could improve and I would be left to finish the task reporting occasionally my progress.
Working for DePuy was a fantastic experience enabling me to use business theory in a real business environment. I feel in an excellent position when applying for graduate jobs as I have been able to successfully manage important projects and be trained by a large successful company. I would recommend a placement at DePuy to anyone looking at furthering their business knowledge and gaining practical experience.
The Company
It was a friendly atmosphere. There were times when everyone would have a little chat and other times when everyone would be getting on with work creating a quiet atmosphere.
DePuy are very experienced in doing work placements. The interview process was very professional and I received all the necessary training to carry out my tasks.
DePuy invested in my development even though they knew I would only be working at the company for a year.

I have been able to carry on part-time whilst I finish my degree with a prospect to progression after I graduate.
The Culture
We had a couple of nights out together
I paid around £250 a month rent and local prices were reasonable
I didn't go out around Leeds City Centre too much but there are lots of nightclubs and bars.
Like most cities there are always football teams and other activities you can get involved with.
