    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • I really enjoyed my time at the firm. All of the Taylor Wessing employees were so welcoming and really allowed you to get involved in the work there.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • People really took the time to speak with you and explain tasks to you. I felt that I was really a part of the firm during my two weeks there.

    5/5

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • Having a trainee buddy and a supervisor meant that there was always someone who was there to support you. The other trainees all wanted to help and support you so that you could do your best.

    4/5

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I learnt that asking questions is invaluable. No one expects you to know all the answers and making sure you understand the task set is the first step. The group presentation at the end of the two weeks really allowed you to work in a team and develop interpersonal skills.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • The two weeks were structured incredibly well. Focus groups and time with your department were scheduled and enough time was left for you to organise yourself outside of this time. There was never a moment that I had nothing to do.

    5/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • Having spent two weeks at Taylor Wessing I really saw how the employees work together and treat each other. The atmosphere is one of a team and everyone wants each other to do their best.

    5/5

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The Talent Team really wanted you to do your best during the two weeks. No one wanted to trip you up. Regular meetings with a member of the Talent Team and their availability meant that you were always supported. Nearly every student received a seat that they had chosen, the firm took seriously what you were interested in and put in effort to make sure that you were in a seat that interested you.

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • The work set was work that trainees would have been doing. This allowed you to really get a feel for the work done at Taylor Wessing. As well as the work, social events that were put on gave the vacation students a holistic feel for what it would be like working at the firm.

    5/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • The way to understand a firm's culture is to experience the firm. Meeting Taylor Wessing employees, seeing how they work and how they work as a team is vital to understanding the firm's culture. Before doing the vacation scheme I already knew of Taylor Wessing's culture and working at the firm just confirmed this. The two weeks allowed you to experience so many different aspects of the firm and meet so many people which meant that you could really see what the firm is about.

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • Doing the work and living for two weeks as a Taylor Wessing lawyer really allowed the vacation students to see how it would be to work for the firm. It really allowed you to see which things and departments you liked and also, very importantly, what you did not like. The group presentation at the end of the two weeks allowed you to work in a team and develop skills of working under pressure and helped you to think about your work from the perspective of a team rather than simply an individual.

    5/5

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • The pay covered all travel and expenses. Most students were very happy with the pay.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • There were lots of drinks and social events for students to meet employees from Taylor Wessing. However, there were few opportunities to meet people from other firms. However I think that during two weeks at the firm this was not important. What the students wanted was to meet employees from Taylor Wessing.

    4/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • The firm put on great social events each week which allowed the vacation students to speak with trainees and associates in a more relaxed environment. Students could ask any questions. All of the students enjoyed the social events and it also gave an opportunity to get to know your fellow students.

    5/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • Speaking to people who worked at Taylor Wessing I was impressed to hear of all of the activities that one could get involved in at the firm. During the two weeks students could get involved in an array of genuinely fun activities. All of the staff at the firm are very active and passionate about doing more than just work at the firm. I think this really adds to the sense of teamwork in the firm.

    5/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • The two weeks were such an experience and I am so grateful for having done them. You learn so much about yourself and how you work. The firm was so welcoming and put on so much for the vacation students. The amount of effort Taylor Wessing put into its vacation scheme really tells you about the culture of the firm.
