    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I have really enjoyed my year with Aldi. The year has taken me around the whole business and given me a real insight into Aldi. At every point over the year I have been learning new skills, seeing new parts of the job and I have thoroughly enjoyed getting the opportunity to do this.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I have felt valued by the business throughout the whole year and have been respected by all the people I have worked with. It can be quite daunting to have to manage people much older and more experienced than myself but despite this gap I have been respected by them and felt like my ideas and thoughts were valued.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I have been well supported during every stage of the process. On the first day I was assigned a mentor and could contact them for any support or training needs that I had.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I was very busy for the entire year as there was so much for me to learn. Every day was different and was spent learning new skills or putting them in to practice, so there is no chance that I would have ever become bored.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given a huge amount of responsibility by Aldi and within my first month had the keys to a store and was learning have to run it on a day to day basis. By the end of the year I was helping to run an area with the support of my mentor. The large amount of responsibility makes you feel extremely valued by the company.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The work ethic that I have learnt at Aldi will help me during my final year at university and with anything in life that I apply my self to. The management skills that I learnt will also help me to put everything I have learnt during my degree in to context and will help me in any management role I undertake.

    3/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Ther is a great working atmosphere in both the offices and in stores. Everyone I have worked with has been hardworking and I have really enjoyed joining in with this and getting things done as a team.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The whole placement year has been extreamly well organised and on day one I was given my training plan for the entire year. There was a lot to learn during the year but there was robust procedure in place and all my trainers knew exactly what they were doing.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I believe Aldi has invested a lot in me over the year and have provided me with an amazing opportunity and the highest quality of training.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised/Company Gym

    Company Parties/Events

    5/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Aldi have offered me the opportunity to go on to their graduate scheme when I finish university, and this is an offer that I can't wait to take them up on as I have enjoyed working for the business a huge amount.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • You spend a large amount of time working with your fellow placement students while in hard office so there is a good social scene during this time. It can be harder to socialise when in store time though due to the different shift patterns.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • I lived at home so it has been very cheap.

    5/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • The nightlife was dependant on where you lived as the region is quite large.

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There are many opportunities to get involved with charity events.

    5/5
