    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • Of course, work was tough due to the huge work load but I think this is normal at firms like Bank of England. I was totally expecting this and everybody should, because otherwise this job is not for you. So overall, there are not a lot of points I want to complain about. I gained a lot of insights, so I’m lucky!

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • I new that I would not always feel valued by my coworkes as I would by my parents. Of course, I informed myself about firms, such as Bank of England, and hence also knew about how human resources is handeled. So me not having felt valued all the time was not a problem specific to my placement, but is rather general thing.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • Guidance is a difficult word. As I said, people were happy to help. Furthermore, goals were clearly defined. However, I was free to solve problems and tasks however I want, and I see this as very a positive aspect as you cannot develop as a person unless you face difficulties.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The skills I gained will help me a lot during my studies, especially since I want to specialise in accounting and taxation. I am sure I will have an edge over those who did not complete such an internship. Besides, you should not forget the value that lies in having found your passion. Without my placement at Bank of England would still not know what to do later in my career.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • As a result of my previous answer, the structure of my experience was a really good one. I never felt bored or too stressed. It was just the right level of work load and I realised that I did not only have to deliver results but I was engouraged to network and allocate time for personal development.

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • I cannot speak about how the atmosphere is in comparison to other internships, but it was definitely an enjoyable experience. You can tell that the current employees who spoke to us loved their job and cherished being there. The other interns all came from different universities and it was a great opportunity to exchange.

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • "Bank of England prepared a very well internship and it was great to see the amount that the company invested into us. The employees very happy to take their time and to talk with us and to answer our questions. Furthermore, the activities and presentation were really helpful to answer the questions I had regarding a career at Bank of England. "

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • "I have always wanted to go into investment banking and this internship only strengthened my endeavour to do so. I love the financial industry and the rewards for working at a prestigious bank. I cannot wait to finally graduate and pursue a career. The presentations about the company, seeing employees in action etc. were all helpful to get a good feeling of the company. "

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • "The insight was well designed and helped me a lot to gain an understanding of the culture at Bank of England. The internship was only for a few days but it was enough to sense those things. I would have never gained this insight from reading reviews on the internet, it is something you have to experience. "
