    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • I enjoyed every moment of the scheme. It was very intense and allowed me to experience what it's like to work a 9-5 job. We looked at many detailed business case studies with large amount of data, making the experience very real. We were also able to speak to employees and apprenticeships about how they would approach the problem, using their training and expertise, as well as ask questions about Deloitte and the apprenticeships and graduate schemes that they offer.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • All of the staff were extremely friendly and approachable, from the receptionists and security to the senior partners. We were treated like young adults, instead of school students, and all employees were genuine when talking about applying to the company. They were encouraging us to make the most of the opportunity and apply to other programmes within the firm. Despite only being there for a week, I felt very welcomed at Deloitte, as if had been there for much longer.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • There was continual support and guidance throughout the week. During all activities, we had multiple Deloitte employees offering advice and explaining new concepts to us. Despite taking time out of their very busy schedule, they were very enthusiastic and happy to answer any question we threw at them. At the end of the week, there was also an opportunity to stay behind and talk to an employee in your chosen service line to ask more specific questions about their experiences and applying the firm. All of the employees were very open when answering questions, even when they were about the firm's competitors. They understood the importance of looking at all our options and were very honest about why they had chosen Deloitte over the other Big 4 firms.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • A couple of the days were dedicated to developing our employability skills. External organisations delivered workshops on things such as negotiating, resilience, public speaking, interview preparation and collaboration. These competencies are transferable to all careers and industries as well as being successful in education. They were delivered in a range of ways including presentations, group discussions and role plays.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • The insight week was very well structured. There was always something to be doing and the timings were regular throughout the week, which was very useful. Lunch was provided every day, but we were also welcome to leave the building to eat out if we preferred. If we had any questions, there were always people on hand to assist us and overall, the week ran smoothly.

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • The general atmosphere at the firm was great. It was a very professional setting, however, the week was filled with fun and engaging activities. All of the employees who assisted in the sessions were very approachable and we were able to sit and talk to them as if we were employees ourselves. Many decided to sit with us for lunch as we discussed topics such as football, the best places to eat out nearby and our travel plans for the summer. They were very open and honest about anything we asked and it never felt as if they were trying to sell the firm to us; the answers were always very genuine. The reception and security staff were also very welcoming and happy to assist us whenever needed (despite constantly getting asked questions about the wifi). By the end of the week, we had built up a good relationship with the staff and it was very sad to leave.
