    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • My passion for teaching was confirmed and I was able to observe lessons as well as participate when I wanted to. The teachers who I worked with were incredibly enthusiastic and happy to answer any questions I had.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • Occasionally I felt like I was a slight nuisance to the teacher when there was nothing specific for me to do. For example, if the lesson plan did not require much help from a teacher there was not much for me to do. However, most of the time I was able to go around the classroom helping tables and individuals.

    4/5

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • Most teachers were incredibly helpful at explaining what they were doing, especially in terms of marking, meeting learning objectives and behaviour management techniques.

    4/5

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The lessons I learnt from observing the teachers will help me with my own training and I began to develop skills for behaviour management.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • The insight was very well structured for the first four days, however, the fifth day I was placed in the Secondary School for an Enrichment Day. Given that I want to be a primary teacher I would have preferred to spend the extra day in the primary school, especially as I had not had the opportunity to observe a Year 5 or Year 6 class.

    2/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • All staff were incredibly enthusiastic, helpful and positive. I felt very welcomed by the community.

    5/5

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The internship was more about me observing than gaining any training.

    3/5

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • The insight was very helpful in showing me what it would be like to do the Ark Teacher Training Programme.

    5/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • The insight helped me understand how integral tackling education inequality is for Ark. The passion of the teachers was very clear.

    5/5

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • The insight confirmed my desire to become a primary school teacher.

    5/5

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • I was reimbursed for travel expenses and my DBS check.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • I was able to meet the Head Teacher and Deputy Head, as well as chat to all primary teachers during the lunch break.

    5/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • There weren't any networking opportunities, but I was not looking for networking opportunities.

    3/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • No.

    1/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
