    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • the level of involvement that Vacation Placement students get on both the work, and social events and talks which happen around the firm. I felt comfortable as soon as I walked through the door as everyone was so friendly and welcoming.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • Definitely! I spent my time in the Corporate Department where I had a range of trainees, solicitors and associates offering me pieces of work to do on their cases. I received loads of feedback on my work throughout and often my work was sent to the Partners in which to send out to the clients!

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • Loads! I could ask anybody anything during my placement and they were all happy to answer my questions and have a chat. Graduate Recruitment were also excellent and responded well to queries regarding the assessment day we had in the second week.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I am more comfortable in writing emails and letters, and my research skills have improved. I am more confident due to the amount of networking opportunities which were available and meetings I set up with different people around the firm.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • Incredibly. We received a timetable of events the week before the placement and various calendar invites throughout. Placement students were free to meet up with as many different people as they wished to ask questions and find out more about the firm which was flexible and beneficial.

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • Amazing- my placement has cemented my desire to work for Pinsent Masons even more! These two weeks have over-exceeded my expectations.

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • A lot- placement students were invited to attend department meetings and talks explaining all the different products that the firm had plans to incorporate into the firm soon. Lots of feedback and informative documents too.

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • The work I completed was all real client work with deadlines. I sat in on a client call with my supervisor and buddy and worked on multiple tasks for the same client, often over the stated finishing time. I felt a huge sense of being a full time employee of the firm.

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • Lots. We had the opportunity to meet Richard Foley who came to visit the Leeds office in the first week of my placement. Richard gave an office meeting explaining the companies values and previous years' successes.
