About You
The insight programme was very enjoyable. The activities were really fun and it was great meeting new people and spending the two weeks with them.
I felt extremely valued. Particularly in my second week during my school placement. I was given a lot of responsibility helping out with classes and teaching one class solo. Teach First make sure that you understand how much they value your work.
Very much. The first week was all training in London to support us in our second week on placement. The management team were always aruond if we needed extra help too.
Even in such a short two weeks, my confidence grew massively which is useful in absolutely any job environment. My time spent chatting to teachers allowed me to find out more about planning and organising techniques which I have applied since during my current internship and things are going extremely well. My current internship is in a non-English speaking country where I do not speak the language and the communication skillls I developed during my week at school have definitely improved my experience here.
The Company
Fantastic. A clear programme was published at the beginning of the week and they managed to fit so much into such a short space of time.
Really positive. Everyone was really enjoying their experiences. Coming back together on the final day and sharing our experiences of school made for a very happy and enjoyable day.
The majority of the sessions in the first week were training and development. These were very thoroughly planned and the resources provided were excellent.
We heard from many people who have been through the company's Leadership Developement Programme and all of their experiences. By chance, during my placement week, I got to hear from a participant who had changed schools due to an extremely negative experience but who also gave fantastic reports of Teach First. Though I understand why they wouldn't want everyone to hear from somebody with a true initial horror story of the programme, it was really helpful and reassuring for me to hear that TF had helped her through it and that she was now happier than ever and I believe that others could have benefitted from that.
Immeasurably. Every second of every day was an immersion in the Teach First life.
It made me as certain as I will ever be prior to training that Teach First is a place that I want to work.
Everything Else
£500 plus accommodation for two weeks.
Yes. There were Q&As and information sessions with both Teach First workers and also ambassadors in different professions and social enterprises now.
Not very personal but extremely informative.
There are lots of opportunities to get invovled with different social enterprises connected with TF and that there is a strong community between TF teachers who are placed together but not much about their activities.
Absolutely. 100% certain. It is a fantastic and extremely valuable experience.
