The Role
I loved working for such a large scale company and being able to see the impact of my department's work. There were occasions where I had to stay at work quite late as my team was so busy but it was worth it when you saw the results in the end! I gained lots of valuable experience, made new friends and had so much fun.
I was part of a small team so felt my input was more recognised. I was able to network with senior colleagues on a regular basis which gave me the opportunity to make myself known in the company. I was given a high level of responsibility and loved feeling like I was 'more than just an intern'.
I had three weekly catchups with my line manager who gave me feedback on current projects as well as brief me on new tasks. This gave me a great opportunity to ask questions and raise concerns if necessary.
I worked in a very busy team (Harry Potter Global Franchise Development) which had a very big year during my placement including the theatrical release of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, the award winning play Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, and the 20th anniversary of the publication of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. Being part of a small team with a high workload meant I was regularly in a high pressure environment and worked late almost everyday. I didn't mind working hard but it did mean that I was unable to always join in with social events after work.
Being in a small team meant that I was given more responsibility. I loved feeling valued and learned a lot in a short space of time!
I study Marketing BA and working within one of the biggest entertainment franchise brands, J.K. Rowling's Wizarding World, meant I was able to learn and see different types of marketing across all divisions (theatrical, television, consumer products) on a global scale. I can't wait to return to university and build upon my knowledge even further in my final year.
The Company
Warner Bros' offices are a great environment to work in. There is a friendly vibe to how people work and it isn't very formal in terms of conversation and dress code. This suited my personality and made it easier to network across the company.
As I was the first intern in my team, I didn't get a handover week as there was no intern before me to show me what the role would entail. I had to teach myself a lot and enjoyed how my role developed over the year. One of my larger projects of the year was the creation of my intern handover notes document which will help make new interns feel more comfortable in their first week!
We had regular intern training sessions which built skills and helped with new ideas of how to manage your workload. These were also a great opportunity to meet the other interns and ask HR any questions you may have.

I hope to return to Warner Bros as I thoroughly enjoyed my placement year!
The Culture
Having a large network of interns across the company made it easier to settle in. The interns would regularly go on nights out and meet for lunch, all organised via a group chat. This made it easier to make friends, especially as I had moved to London for my placement.
London will always be an expensive nightout or drinks after work, but that shouldn't deter anyone from a placement in London! Even going out for one drink after work meant you were still able to socialise and meet people without spending a fortune.
Being in central London (WB offices are in Holborn) meant that there is a long list of local pubs, bars and clubs nearby. This made it easier to meet up after work and it was fun to explore the local area.
Warner Bros is very charity orientated and also encourage staff to become interested in fitness. I took part in a 5K run through Regents Park and London Zoo through Warner Bros which was so much fun and a great opportunity which I had never heard of before! You were able to go round the Zoo for free afterwards for taking part as well.
