    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I believe that the experience offered to me was very exciting and I believe this was mainly regarding the SEAT Brand and my department. However, in the wider group, I felt I did not get that much exposure to as I would've liked. I was always busy and was always encouraged by my team to get involved in other tasks and events in each of the other different departments.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I wasn't expecting to be valued and trusted as much as I have been. I have been involved in very important tasks such as budget forecasting for the year and being reliable for managing/invoicing a significant amount of money.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I worked very closely with the head of department and I was expecting a more of a hierarchical gap, however this wasn't the case. The HOB and I, and my manager and I would have weekly catch up's at the beginning of the week and then again at the end of the week. I found this very motivating and in those meetings I could ask for help and guidance with on-going tasks.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I had my day to day tasks that took up a lot of my time a the beginning but with time and practice I was able to reduce the time spent on doing those tasks and getting involved in new projects. I found with my role busyness varied regarding what time of the month it was. Therefore I dedicated my time wisely, without getting involved in or becoming responsible for too many projects but seeking the most out of my experience.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was responsible for many different important aspects of the department. This mainly involved budget tracking, ensuring our spend was inline with the budget and managing how much money we were paying our suppliers for the work carried out. At first, when a project was delegated to me, I felt overwhelmed being solely responsible in managing and executing the tasks. However, with time and with my confidence growing I felt able to ask to be involved in more and more projects.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Working within the fast paced environment of the motor industry and office-based work as a whole, my personable skills have improved dramatically. My confidence in presenting and speaking to people has improved the most and I believe the courses and training I completed had a lot to help with that. Regarding my degree, I believe it hasn't assisted me and my role doesn't really link to HR which I am focusing my studies on. However, the experience and personal skills I have learnt will stay with me for the rest of my career.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Throughout the group the atmosphere varies. The SEAT brand is always upbeat and the brand has a very close working relationship and I feel comfortable approaching people face to face from different departments rather than sending an email, as I feel that is more proactive. However, I know that the atmosphere changes depending on the workload.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Company Car

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I really would live to return the group and I believe the career pathways put in place are defined and the opportunities offered to you are very exciting. I feel passionate regarding the industry and be apart of such significant brands I feel like the possibilities are endless.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • I felt that at the beginning of the placement the undergrads gelled and we used to meet up most weekends for BBQ's and other events. However, I personally didn't feel like I wanted to socialise with the undergraduate cohort. Regarding this I became very good friends with people within the SEAT brand and we always did social events. I felt that the group could've helped to arrange events for the undergrads to get to know each other better.
