    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • It was extremely enjoyable, there were many activities and workshops i done throughout the week and learnt new skills whilst having fun and meeting new people. i gained more knowledge in a fun and entertaining way rather than something boring like someone talking for hours. it was very interactive and we got to go to the technology digital department and see awesome stuff like a robot kind of machine walking and other cool items made from a 3d printer as well as virtual reality set which was enjoyable and fun to watch as other people in the group were playing.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • From the very start till the end everyone was treated fairly and equally like we are all the same and all our ideas even if they weren't good were taken into consideration and were able to be hear and explained which was encouraging whilst working in a team and the host also had good feedback which would help every team individually and no one got left out and being able to work together as a team increased value as we were working with different people only if the groups were more organised and created before hand so we all get to work with different people throughout the programme because i worked with someone for a few groups although it wasn't an issue but some people i had not worked with at all.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • We had a lot of guidance as everything was explained before we started any task and the information was constantly there for us to refer back to and reminders of what we had to do if we had any questions we were able to ask and as a group we would help each other answer it if needed. everything was explained properly before activities and sessions started as well as the day to day plans for us to have an insight of what will be happening the next day.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The skills i've developed will be helping me with my cv application as i can put in the skills that i have gained through this experience and also it has helped me with my confidence in presentation and working in a group by putting ideas forward rather than sitting aside and letting the rest of the group do the work therefore, skills will be helping me throughout my career and life through studies and other situation that i may be needing to face.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • It was structured well with the days planned out to have the continuous days together and the two different teams of people come in to do activities with us and it was explained the day before with a small brief of what we will be doing in case we could prepare yourself for anything. It was also a good flow and timing wasn't a issue at all it was all continuous and enjoyable.

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • It was a great atmosphere it was professional zone where everyone wasn't just 6th formers or college students rather being a employee and acting very professional compared to how we would act in school and be a bit more immature. It was an educational atmosphere where everyone would give educational responds rather than something irrelevant and it as a happy place to be in no fights or arguments or disagreements within the group and everyone would get along with each other so communication was a good success throughout the groups.

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • There was no personal training as this was just a Aspire programme of work experience to gain at the company and we had workshops and real life situations to handle within the firm so we got to know more about the firm itself and what they do and how they work in each and every department and got a range of ideas and understandings on how the department is and what they do. we got to experience all the different aspect of the services that they provide.

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • I understood completely about what the bright start programme will be like what roles and responsibility i will have and how studying and working will go it helped me understand how it will be to juggle both at the same time and how i can move up the educational ladder. In the firm there are lots of opportunities to move up when working in a team and completing tasks.

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • Im not too sure what the company culture is as the week was mainly focused on the services that the company has and the opportunities and programme they have for students after college or 6th formers. therefore, ive had a more insight in the educational part rather than the cultural part.

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • I wanted to be an accountant for many years now and coming on this insight week i have realised that i want to be a chartered accountant i never knew which accountant i want to be and this is also a sightly easy pathway to getting a qualification that someone else could get too and this made me assure that i want to take this path to become a chartered accountant.

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • I have been told that the travel expenses can be claimed back by completing a form and showing proof so i will be doing that to claim back the travel expenses as i am not working and need to save my money as a student. I was also told that it will take a month to 8 weeks so hopefully it does work. I am glad that they are doing this to help us save our money as we are still students not earning.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • There were good opportunities, i got to gain a lot of knowledge about the programmes from personal experiences people have had and i got to get peoples emails and business cards so i can contact them in the future when applying myself or if i have any quires. there was lots of opportunities to ask questions and things like that.
