The Role
It's a scary thing to start work but I am really enjoying my placement so far!
Everyone at the PPS offices are very welcoming and friendly - the office space is open-plan, which allows for you to buzz off each other's ideas. There is always someone to help you out if you need it, and when you do a good job - it doesn't go unnoticed.
The support, guidance and most importantly, freedom to make my placement what I want it to be is great to have. I meet with my supervisor almost every 2 weeks and it is good way of helping create a basis from which I can work off for the coming months.
You are always busy at PPS!
You are doing a real job from day one - and it is the best way to get the most of your short time on placement - I had real control over the company blog, website content, monthly newsletter, media exposure etc.
The real-life application of the theories I have spent the last two years learning at university has just made everything make so much more sense.
The Company
The PPS office is open and friendly - you can literally go up to anyone and ask a question.
I knew from the beginning my role responsibilities and had a good induction. Regular meetings throughout with my supervisor has really been a big benefit to me.
From the outset, it was made clear to me that I could go on training or development courses if I wished - or if there were any conferences or events I thought would be helpful to my placement.
Subsidised Canteen
Company Parties/Events
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Very appealing - this company is truly growing and it would be exciting to continue on with them
The Culture
I had one fellow placement student with me and we regularly had lunch together, went out - the entire company often hosted 'Wet Wednesdays' where we would all go for drinks after work, and we all went out for birthdays, leaving dos etc.
Lived at home and had a 10 minute commute by car/15 minutes by bus and walk - so can't complain at all!
Birmingham is a great place to live, work and play :)
The entire company often hosted 'Wet Wednesdays' where we would all go for drinks after work, and we all went out for birthdays, leaving dos etc. We also have annual Summer parties and a Xmas do :)
