    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • The insight week was an enjoyable experience, with lot of varied activities which kept it fun and interesting. Each day was filled with events which gave us valuable information about the careers within Technology at KPMG, and also with different challenges and workshops.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • KPMG made a big effort to make us feel valued during our time, and kept emphasising our significance to the firm. On the Wednesday, we were assigned people to shadow, during which time we got to undertake actual work. This not only gave us a greater insight into the day-to-day work at KPMG, but also allowed us to actually contribute to the firm.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • We received a lot of guidance and support during the insight. Every day we heard from different people who worked at different levels within different teams in Technology sector at KPMG. This meant that we were given a lot of guidance and support in working out which sectors we wanted to work in. We had an assessment day on the Thursday for which we were given a lot of prior support and guidance.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The insight week skills and information that I have learnt will not assist me in my degree. However, the week was very useful in providing information about my career after university. For example, I learnt a lot about the different areas of technology consulting and about the environment at KPMG, which will assist me in my decisions post-uni. Also, I learnt a lot of transferable skills such as presentation skills.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • The insight week was well structured. Each day was planned so that we had various activities to do and all our time was filled. At the beginning of the week, they spent time going through our schedule for the day which helped keep our time structured and organised. It didn't feel like there was lots of dead time, but at the same time it did not feel like the days were too busy or too intense.

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • The atmosphere at KPMG was one thing that really stood at to me. The people were very very friendly and welcoming and made a massive effort to make us feel comfortable and valued. A lot of people went out of their way to talk to us and were more than happy to answer any of our questions. I felt very comfortable at KPMG; it did not feel like a brutal corporate atmosphere

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The firm invested a lot in our personal training and development. If we were interested in a sector specifically, they made special efforts to cater to those interests and put us in touch with the right people. They also put on various workshops, such as leaderships/ communication workshops.

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • The insight week provided an extremely valuable insight into what it would be like to have a full time role in the firm. We spoke to a range of people, who all worked in different teams, which gave us a really useful insight into the technology sector at KPMG. We also got to speak to people at different levels in the firm which gave a useful insight into the progression ladder at KPMG.

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • The insight week clearly demonstrated the company culture. All the people we spoke to gave honest and complete assessments about the culture at KPMG compared to the other big 4. Also, because we got to do some work shadowing, we got a valuable insight into the culture as we got to actually see how people interacted with each other

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • The program gave a valuable insight. Because we got so much information and exposure, it meant that we were very well informed about KPMG and their technology consulting sector. It helped me decide which sectors I did and did not want to work in and also helped me decide which graduate schemes to apply to.
