    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • It was a truly amazing experience! I was placed within the team and was able to work on real matters, getting an insight into the life of a lawyer.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • We were given a talk by Duncan Weston and senior partners during the entire first week and this showed the importance the firm placed on us as Academy Students. The rest of the week highlighted the expenses that the firm spent. It was good to see the firm from inside out.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • During my internship I have received a high level of feedback at each stage and have grown from this. During time spent in departments I was given feedback based on everything that I did and was very constructive. I was able to become a part of the team.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Having studied Law, I had the background knowledge, however practical application of the law is another world. My degree helped but I think the internship has armed me with the necessary skills to work in the legal field.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • The first week was very structured down to a T and we were able to experience an array of activites. The internship second and third weeks were more free, enabling us to learn more from our team as and when they required our help. I was always busy and was given tasks that made a real difference to the team.

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • The team was amazing and friendly - I did not encounter a single person who did not ask questions and want to get to know me. They were truly welcoming and gave a real experience of the law firm. It has been a very different experience to other law firms and I hope that CMS does not change its ethos and reputation of being a kind and friendly firm.

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The entire three weeks shows the dedication to our training and development. There was no expense spared and we felt truly valued and welcomed. The logistics that have gone into this is unlike any other and I am truly appreciative of the time and effort Duncan, Joanna, Sanjeda and the team have spent.

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • The Academy has given me a real insight into what life at CMS would be like. Although there has been a few long nights, the team effort has made it worth it.

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • We had networking opportunities every day and we were able to meet people from almost every sector and level. There was also structured networking which allowed us to gain an understanding of the firm as a whole. We also had time to network on our many socials which were extremely enjoyable.

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • Amazing! Everything from theatre to cooking school and drinks at a rooftop bar.

    5/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • There were a few opportunities to get involved, however there were more longer term projects that would not suit out three week academy. There also wasn't a huge deal of time to get invovled with these as we were constantly attending socials.

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • Definitely!!
