The Role
The people at Hays are what makes this placement - the majority are good fun and can make a bad day much better. The work load and pressure at times was stressful but as an intern at Hays you are treated exactly the same as a consultant here so get proper understanding of how recruitment works.
The team made my experience here and you do feel like a valued member of staff. By the end you're contributing just like everyone else and are can tell your work is making a difference.
The first couple of months are the toughest as it's such a lot to learn. Hays gave very good training and my direct manager answered every question I had and I could not fault the training given.
Depending on the time of year would depend how busy we were. When we were busy it was extremely busy and even when it wasn't we still had a lot of KPIs to hit and were encouraged to do a lot.
Almost just as much as a regular consultant. Not everyone is given client contact but it depends on the desk you're put on.
Time management is probably one of the biggest things; I will always make a To Do list the night before every day so I can prioritise my time effectively and know what I need to do first. I am much more confident about speaking to new people as we do that all day every day. Understanding how recruitment works will also help when we start to look for jobs in the future and going through interview processes etc
The Company
Generally very positive and a good laugh
Very good training that continued throughout the year
Lots of training
Financial Bonus
Company Parties/Events
Good career growth available for those that do well and there are plenty of examples in the company but this job isn't right for everyone and it would have been more appealing if there was some more flexibility
The Culture
Always out for drinks after work
Lived and worked in London on a very low salary so had to budget a lot.
Loads of pubs and bars in the City
Mostly revolved around drinking but that's not a negative
