    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Started Gap Year Scheme shortly after A-Levels, so provided a nice change to studying. Would say that at times though, the work became repetitive and I felt as though I was not adding much value. However, the responsibility given to you from the beginning forces you to be resourceful and work efficiently with others, which is a great thing in hindsight. Also I felt as though when I left the office I wasn't taking the worries of work with me, which was obviously good.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Quite valued - I'm sure this would vary from student to student though, as the role you are assigned very much dictates who/how many different individuals you will need to work with.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Support was good at times, at others I found myself asking other placement students for help.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Days varied massively, for example one day I could be busy from 0800-1800, others I could pitch up at 0900/0930 and leave at 1530/1600 - Will absolutely depend on Task Manager.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • A lot of responsibility from the start, responsibility slowly increases as you progress.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I will probably feel more comfortable going into a summer internship/graduate interview with solid experience to talk about. I think the main skills developed were people skills/presentation skills.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Quite quiet most of the time, which isn't always a bad thing, but sometimes felt as though a bit more of an atmosphere would be nice.

    3/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Quite organised, I would say however, that the work flow was extremely varied.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I have developed many skills from the placement, I wouldn't say they invested that much in me though.

    3/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • 1/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Not overly appealing, however, the fact that I have a 'foot in the door' in the future seems useful.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Not really, seems forced a lot of the time.

    2/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Middle to Low.

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Near no nightlife - you'd need to be at Southbank if that is what you're after.

    1/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Lots of opportunities, however I think only very few people actually turn up.

    4/5
