    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Although the job role wasn't right for me as it had little to do with my degree, there were many aspects of the placement that I did enjoy such as the people I met and the interest they had in my future.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I felt appreciated and valued by my colleagues and they were always there to support me.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • There was always support by management in regards to the day to day side of the role. However in terms of my overall expectations and aims for the placement, support wasn't there until the last two months.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • For most of the placement I usually had things going, but during my first few weeks and last few months I struggled to find things to do.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given a lot of independence to get on with what needed to be done and with organising my workload. I would have appreciated being given more responsibility through working on projects.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • There was very little relevance with the job role and my degree studies but the placement has allowed me to become a better overall employee developing skills such as team working and organisation skills.

    3/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • There was a nice and friendly atmosphere in the office and a lot of interest was shown into other peoples lives. There were periods of quiet and times where it was very busy. However there was a lack of social interaction which I felt would have strengthened relationships and made the placement more enjoyable.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • I found there was a lack of organisation for internships as my first few weeks didn't go completely smoothly and training wasn't always well prepared. However an intern in HR has tried to take action on this and ensure there is a proper induction for new interns which I believe will make a big difference

    3/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Although there was a lot of interest shown in my training and development, I felt that there was always a lack of action in regards to this. Despite them being very poorly advertised, there were opportunities to go on courses if needed. However many of them had very little relevance to me and so I didn't go on much.

    3/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    Subsidised Canteen

    Subsidised/Company Gym

    Financial Bonus

    Company Parties/Events

    Staff Sales/Staff Shop

    Healthcare/Dental

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • If there was an opportunity for another role within the organisation, I would be very interested in this.

    3/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • There were a few occasions where interns met, but I felt that this could have been improved and made a more regular thing.

    3/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • I didn't have to move from home so the only cost I had was travel which was very little.

    5/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • There area is local to me so I am used to it, but if you fancy an upgrade Birmingham is not too far.

    3/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Not many opportunities, there was a five a side football but apart from that not many chances to get involved in activities
