The Role
I thoroughly enjoyed working my placement year at Hays as I was given limitless opportunities and responsibilities which gave me a real insight to what the industry entails as a graduate.
I felt very valued within my team in particular as I was given a lot of support and encouragement to work outside my comfort zone.
I was given a lot of support by my manager and business director, they would always take time out of their day to help me even with the simplest of requests.
I was extremely busy and everyday was a challenge. As I was given a 360 desk so everyday was something different, to doing business development to setting up interviews.
The opportunities and responsibilities I was given were limitless as working on a full 360 desk from day one gave me the opportunity to work to my full potential and to work outside my comfort zone which has enabled me to grow as a person.
Hays have a very detailed training programme which allows you to settle into your job very quickly. The skills I have developed throughout this placement year have been endless and will all contribute to the success of my final year.
The Company
The general atmosphere was definitely "work hard and play hard" as we were required to get results but there are so many incentives that were available to even the interns that were definitely a key motivator as an individual and as a team.
My internship was very well organised as I had a very detailed training programme therefore we would learn to do certain tasks then be required to do them. Therefore the transition from the training programme to the position was seamless.
As previously mentioned Hays had a very detailed training programme that lasted for around 4 weeks then there was loads of support given by senior members of staff. Therefore there was a lot of support and investment in my placement year to ensure I develop to my full potential.
Financial Bonus
Company Parties/Events
Hays has a lot of incentives and opportunities for future employment which are all motivating factors to come back as a graduate.
The Culture
All of my colleagues and fellow placement students were all very friendly which was easy to get to know each other.
I commute into work everyday as the area to which I work is very expensive alongside the cost of socialising outside of Hays, but there is an incentive every month for drink vouchers in our local pub.
There's not much nightlife to where I work but there are places close by which are more lively. However I commute into work everyday so the nightlife isn't something that appealed to me as I would have a long journey home.
There were many incentives that Hays offer for your team for example as my team we went to laser tag and drinks.
