  • I was treated like a valued member of the team throughout my placement with The Body Shop. I was recognized for my achievements and given a lot of responsibility.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I felt supported by my manager and the wider team throughout my placement. I had regular catch up meetings with my manager who would be there to support on any matters inside or outside of work.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • The workload varied, however once I had settled into the business after a couple of months I had enough work to keep me busy throughout the day.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was surprised by the amount of responsibility I was given throughout my placement. I was tasked with my own projects to manage and worked independently and with various teams in the business outside of my own.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The skills and experience I gained were very relatable to what I had learnt in my previous two years at University, and in some cases I was able to bring knowledge I had from my degree so far to help with my work. The experience I have had has definitely prepared me to start a career after completing my degree due to now having real world Retail and an office environment experience.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The office environment was relaxed and friendly, employees at The Body Shop work at a fast pace but there is also quite a social atmosphere. There are often yoga sessions, or visits from our community trade suppliers that are open for everyone to attend.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The internship was organized well, on your first day you spent half a day with HR and the other interns before joining your team and meeting with your manager. We were kept up to date throughout the internship with any key dates and information. I know that there has been many improvements to the internship during the time I was undertaking the scheme.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • There were a lot of online training tools that we had access to that we could use anytime. There was also the opportunity to take workshops on skills development.

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • The Body Shop offer a management trainee scheme after University which I be undertaking and have offered to update interns on future job openings that may be applicable to them.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Due to the location of the office many people drive into work so there isn't much of an after work social scene. Some interns did live in the local area and it is close to Worthing, Brighton & Chichester so there is a lot to do close by.

    3/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • I lived at home during my placement so didn't have the same living costs as those living in the area. The cost of going out in Brighton is much less than London and there are trains direct to Brighton from the closest station to the office.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • The town where the office is located there is not much of a nightlight, however it is close to Brighton for nights out.

    3/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • You have the opportunity to take 3 volunteer days outside of work during the year. We also had 'Wellbeing Week' in which you could participate in daily activitys such as Yoga and Mindfulness.

    3/5
