    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Thoroughly enjoyed the placement, had a good mentor who gave me challenging tasks and helped me develop. I have realised however that I would like to follow the environmental career path more than the health and safety

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I received a great feel of help from my manager throughout the year

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Working as part of a small team meant that I had a lot of contact time with my manager, he personally made sure I was working on interesting projects and was always available if I was stuck with something

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I was busy most days with an ample workload, sometimes it became rather busy but this led to me improving my time management skills

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • When my manager was not in I was tasked with going to the top level management meetings to provide support and give my opinions

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The skills I have learnt such as time management, how to deal with a wide variety of characters and much better oratory skills will be useful in any job I decide to pursue

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • I worked in an office with the HSE, FES and finance team meaning I made friends with a range of people from other departments. The office staff were friendly and always helpful

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The placement was well set up and as part of a large company there were a number of placement students going through the same process as me, this meant things like student development days etc were provided which gave me an insight into the company and other plants

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I received no formal training whilst at faurecia however non formal skills based training was constantly given

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • 1/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • There are many opportunities within the company to pursue international graduate schemes which I am very interested in applying for

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Me and a number of the students lived together and regularly went out on weekends and after work to go for drinks and other activities

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Sharing a house meant that the cost of living was manageable, the wage meant I had enough money to enjoy myself whilst also saving some money to go travelling for a month after placement

    5/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Nightlife in Lichfield was similar to living in a small town however there were a number of pubs etc which were very fun, it was easy to travel into Birmingham for a big night out in a busy city

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There were opportunities to get involved in things outside of work such as sports teams but faurecia did not facilitate this, this was organised between the placement students
