    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • It was difficult to begin with but once you got the hang of the role, it became easier and there was always support available to you.

  • I really felt like I was an integral part of the team. Everyone in my department was welcoming and was there for me if I needed help

  • The support and advice I received from my line manager and department manager were really important to my development throughout the year

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Some days are busier than others but there is little time to waste, especially because of the high stress production environment. As you are actually working in a position in the company.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was working in an actual position in the company and so I had equal responsibilities with experienced colleagues in my department.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The placement really improved my people skills, such as my communication and my confidence in things like public speaking.

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • As working in sequence at a tier 1 supplier to OEMs, people are always busy, either fixing things as they go wrong or working to stop persisting issues altogether.

  • As mentioned it was an actual position in a manufacturing plant so it was very well organised.

  • Faurecia are very keen to improve the skills of people that they work with.

  • As Faurecia are a worldwide company the future employment opportunities are incredible and there is a scheme for everyone.

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • All of the other students, as well as my colleagues were keen to do activities outside of work.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Cost of living in Fradley (Lichfield) was average

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • The nightlife in Fradley (Lichfield) is restricted to mostly pubs and restaurants, but it's less than a fiver to go into Birmingham.
