    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • It has been a very enjoyable year where I have learnt so much from team members and other interns. It has been hard work with some tasks being challenging but overall it has been such a great year at ASOS. There are so many perks working at ASOS such as the Summer and Christmas Party's, Team Away Days and ASOS Assembles. It is a great environment to be a part of and work in and you feel valued across all levels.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • The great thing about doing an internship at ASOS is that you are not treated like an intern you are welcomed into your team as a regular employee. You can learn so much from your other team members and line managers that makes you feel more valued and more valuable within the team. It is great that we still have the intern programme so we can regularly catch up with the other interns and hear about their experiences as an ASOS intern.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Across both teams I worked on over my year at ASOS i was extremely guided by senior members of staff and those i worked more closely with on a regular basis. I felt comfortable speaking to management if i was having any problems as everyone around ASOS menswear is so approachable and friendly.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • The nature of ASOS is 'work hard and play harder' which is definitely true. Working at ASOS you are constantly busy and always thinking about your to do list for the next day or next week! It can be challenging at times to find a way to balance your workload but i always felt as though i could speak to my team members if i was struggling.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • As an intern you are given the same level of responsibility as other employees. I was always included in meetings (even with management) and never felt left out or excluded from important tasks. Although it can be scary to be given so much responsibility especially when you are new it is a great way to learn and build up confidence.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I am so pleased to have completed this year at ASOS as i feel so much more confident and motivated to go back to Uni and finish my degree. It has been amazing to experience first hand the things and skills we learn about on our course and i have been able to understand things in so much more depth after doing it myself.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Everyone is always so cheerful and happy to help. Although there are some stressful days everyone stays in good spirit which helps you to stay motivated!

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Overall i feel like the internship is very well organised. We had monthly sessions where all the interns got together for 2 hours and we would have guest lecturers, members of the exec team and interesting sessions. Training could have been better organised as sessions are often cancelled or rearranged at the last minute which is annoying when your new and want to learn certain processes.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • 4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    5/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I would definitely be interested in coming back to ASOS after finishing my degree. I have the potential thought to work at other companies first to see what they offer but i think I will always want to come back to ASOS!

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • So many parties and events over the year with the whole of ASOS, just menswear and team nights out.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • I lived at home for my placement year as it is only an hour commute into london so i didnt need to move to london/pay rent over my placement year. I know after speaking to other interns who did move to london found it quite challenging covering the cost of london rent and bills.

    5/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Lots of bars and pubs down camden highstreet so perfect for team nights out. Only took about 15 minutes to get into central london so easy to meet friends after work/go out with other interns!

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • So many opportunities to get involved in at ASOS. They heavily encourage flexi time so you can go to the gym/sports clubs.
