    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I loved it and would definitely recommend to others.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I felt really valued and made some great friendships along the way. No matter what sort of things you enjoy you're guaranteed to find someone else who is interested. Don't be afraid to be yourself and talk to people you wouldn't normally think to as you'll be surprised at the friendships you can make at disney.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My team was really supportive and I was provided with a fantastic mentor.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I was relatively busy but the workload was on and off so some days would be hectic whilst others would be really quiet.

    3/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • For an intern, I was given a great deal more responsibility than expected which was nice.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The soft skills I developed were really good and the technical skills such as CMS and project management will really help me in the future.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • I really loved the atmosphere in the office, it was hard working but a lot of fun with lots of social activities and chatting about work and non-work related things. I always felt welcome and happy speaking to most people in the office about anything that was on my mind.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The application and interview process was pretty fast and we were always told how long the next step would take and it would never go over. Feedback was good and I had regular catch ups with my mentor to go over anything I was struggling with and to review my progress in the internship.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • There were lots of training sessions, from work specific skills such as CMS and email etiquette, to guest speakers coming in for workshops in confidence building, healthy living, mental wellbeing and so on. I found all of these sessions really helpful and they aren't something that is usually offered in most workplaces.

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I would definitely recommend working with Disney again. The only reason why I may not apply in future is because of the location (London) where I don't want to live and be so far away from family and my partner. Otherwise I would really enjoy continuing to work with Disney.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • I was really lucky because most of the other placement students in my department were similar and enjoyed the same social scenes as I did. I think that whatever you enjoy, you'll find someone else who you can enjoy it with whether its clubbing or going to the cinema or theatre.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • As expected from London, the costs of living and socialising (and everything) were shockingly high and you will be required to live with housemates unless you're made of money. However the company set up a group for new interns before we started to find others to live with which made the process easier.

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • I'm not a big clubber so couldn't answer this entirely correctly, but you're right near a lot of bars and restaurants, and living in London you've got easy access to lots of different things depending on what you're into. We went to the theatre more than once and there are loads of drinks going on throughout the year in nearby bars.

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Disney have a VoluntEARS scheme where you can get involved in volunteering opportunities both within and outside the company which is great for networking, doing good for others and putting on your CV! My department also had a social committee where regular events were put on such as film screenings.
