    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • The week in Danone was fantastic and we got a real look into what it was like to work in a FMCG company. Very friendly and approachable staff. We gained some great employer recognisable skills in the time: teamwork, problem solving and analysing data. Presenting as a group was a fantastic experience and the people I met during the insight were a delight to be in the company of. Would highly recommend to anyone to apply. Great company to work for.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • Always felt like there was staff to speak to, never felt lost or at a loose end. Very much enjoyed speaking to some of the staff members to learn more and resolve any questions etc. During a group task for example we had staff assisting us on certain parts and it felt as if we had been colleagues for years. Our work was valued and we received feedback on performance afterwards which was valuable.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • Always had help around the corner and our HR contact was only an email away. Danone has a great Hr dept that keeps you informed along the way. Prior to the week for example we had a conference call to discuss the upcoming events and get everyone speaking to each other. Lunches were a great chance to catch up with staff and other interns on their experiences and I'd advise anyone joining to use the social time to the fullest, it can be really helpful!

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • There's no doubt that the week gave me a great set of recognisable skills that would help my CV but most importantly my work and degree performance. The experience left me feeling invigorated and passionate to achieve highly to work in such a great environment. Being a brand manager throughout the year made me feel part of a team and having goals made me never drag my heels in terms of work. Though it was never too demanding to get in the way of studies

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • From arriving to leaving there was activity throughout the whole day and then opportunities for socialising in the evening. It was in this time we did group tasks, individual assessment to determine our strengths and weaknesses and presentations. The brand managing was a similar story, any events would be planned for well in advance and appropriate advertisement would occur prior. There was never a time as previously mentioned, that I felt at a loose end.

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • During the week it seemed everyone had a smile on their face at all times. We were all there for the same reason and the slight air of competition just increased that positive atmosphere. Everyone including staff were willing to stop and chat or help. Meeting new people gives everyone a buzz so in my opinion everyone really enjoyed the week. I was telling my friends back home about it for days and they all regretted not applying.

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • A week of on site placement must have cost a considerable amount so from that point of view the sheer financial investment was large. The staff members time advising us and talking was another investment that made us feel valued. We had an evaluation of our skills using detailed questions to analyse our working patterns and how we work best which was strikingly accurate, everyone was impressed that the seemingly simple questions had revealed such a clear and relatable image of who we were as a person. We had data packets given to us and also a great deal of face to face time which benefited us also.

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • From the insight we saw almost all of the building and met a good percentage of the staff, from this I gained a pretty solid view of what it would be like. I witnessed Day to day interactions of staff and all were pleasant and at no point did I see any negative aspect of working there. The HR contact was friendly and informal to an extent where it was very easy to speak to them. This helped a great deal and if that is representative of the rest of the company then it is a good sign of what employment would entail.

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • As described above seeing day to day interactions and talking to staff helped me gain a pretty good impression of what working there would be like. Caring staff and friendly open office space creates a nice environment to work in.

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • I had already decided to go into finance before joining the company's insight program in summer. But this week helped me see a lot more clearly what that kind of job would be like. I believed previously that the only way into finance was a big 4 firm, but I was introduced at Danone to a range of nationally recognisable accounting programs that they were willing to put you through the training of. This makes Danone a great place to start for finance, but also any path because similar programs exist within the company for other areas of business.

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • Received full reimbursement for all accom and meals during the week then gift vouchers through the year for brand managing

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • Mentioned previously, there was a lot of occasions for me to meet other staff members informally as well as in the work place. Be that in a group task or during lunch. Or just walking round the office during a break. Everyone had time to talk and it didn't seem like were 'just' interns, a real emphasis was put on by everyone in speaking to us and letting us know what it was like to work there. They were selling us the job without even trying! Being in the building made it so easy to learn more and I bid anyone looking for a grad job to take a look at Danone and try to get on this program

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • Lunches and evenings were a great chance to meet the other members of the insight week. Staff members were sometimes present at these events. In Chiswick Park itself there were events going on like football or tennis and once a zip wire across the buildings! These community events brought everyone together and created an atmosphere that is hard to recreate without something like a festival going on.

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • Speaking to other staff members I found out about lots of out of work activities. The gym and other fitness clubs were a large part of the workplace there with Danone presenting itself as the healthy company it is. This is to de stress and also another chance for socialising. There was a ping pong table and pool table for breaks and locally the park is located near a range of activities such as fencing, rock climbing or hiking.

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • Absolutely would recommend this to anyone and if you're hesitating to get your application started.. just do it! You won't regret it, only good things can come from this week, whether it be skills learnt, getting better at applications, gaining confidence from meeting new people, making new friends, feel like you're taking control and taking a step for your future career. Apply apply apply for this role.
