    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • A lot of effort went in making sure that we learnt as much as we could about the company. The staff in charge were helpful and patient, they were constantly giving us advice on how to go forward and how to incorporate into the company. The workshops we're helpful in ways, relatable to the business and outside the business

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • Our experiences and efforts to get into the program were really taken into account. We received perks that made us feel like we were part of the business, even though we were only there for a short period of time. I went through the program due a competition that I won and this was really taken into consideration and we were congratulated on winning and this made me feel valued as my work was being recognized.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • There was extensive workshops and case studies that revolved around the functions of the business, I was not only impressed with the effort that was put into each activity but was more than content with all the information that was shared with us. Many of the current workers gave us insight as to what to expect during the job and gave us detailed descriptions as to what their jobs detailed.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I want to move forward and study international business, my communication skills developed massively by taking part in mock presentations and interviews. We learnt how to properly formed a presentation and this is something that I can use further on in life. My leadership skills were also developed as I was put in charge of head of research, during our immersive case study and In other activities that occur during my placement.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • The week was well organized, not only because we we're given detailed instructions as to what were going to do everyday but also because each activity was linked to further projects. Overall the insight was more than just seeing what they do, but actually getting to do what employees would do and this gave us a more clear indication of what to expect from work.

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • The fun truly never ended. We as a group had time to build relationships among one another, there we're activities that ensured that we were motivated. The actors in charge always made sure that the games were related to the activities and everyone was really friendly as a result. There was not one moment that you wished you were home, because all the things that we did were exciting.

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • We have things such as personal skills development were we learnt about crucial things such as body language and rapport. Those two things alone are useful in any working and personal environment, this sort of investment is motivational. We received training on how to work in teams, this became particularly handy as this is something that the company really integrates into their corporate culture. We learnt how important communication is when working in a group and is something that is useful In any occasion.

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • There were two opportunities were we were able to fully immerse ourselves into the work of a person working in different parts of audit. A full time role in the company would mean constantly dealing with people and different opinions and more importantly... Different challenges everyday. There were opportunities such as networking lunches were we were in an relax environment and discussed different aspects of deloitte and what it stands for. This lunch meant that we were able to ask questions and clarify any misconceptions. Overall we were told how a normal day in their jobs would look like, what sort of opportunities there are available regarding traveling and moving up on the business. We were also informed about other apprenticeships that we're available and how to possible achieve them.

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • The insight helped me realized that the core of deloitte is people, not only their clients but also their employees. They put a great emphasis on their employees, they truly care for their staff and want to make sure that they are able to provide the best service and in order to do that they need people. Building communities in the workplace allows for a comfortable working environment, this sort of care for their employees truly represents what kind of business deloitte is. Profit aside, their corporate culture revolves around providing the best service and by doing this , helping business and individuals.

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • Due to the way that the company is structured and the way that staff are treated and viewed. My experience changed my thoughts on the career path that I want to take, this is due to the fact that now I'm considering an career in the same line of work as deloitte as I now strive to work for a company like them or for them themselves. My perspective on business and how business is done and should be done has changed. I now want to contribute to the business world by delivering my expertise rather than function as a part of the business itself.

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • There was a limit to how much could be reimburse, in my particular case I was only partially covered. This was due to an outside factor that did not regard the company but even then, over half of my reimbursement was covered. They also were very observant on the amount of hours that I had to travel to get to the placement and allowed to me to leave ten to fifteen minutes earlier in order to reach my train. This was very considerate and even though not all expenses were paid, the knowledge gain is something that goes far beyond money

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • For me personally there were already opportunities to do such thing as networking with other employees and this is because I have family that works in the business and although I already had this connection I found that during each activity there were opportunities to interact with other employees that had different experiences in deloitte and therefore had different types of advice. In the last day we had the chance to speak to one of the partners of deloitte and he personally gave us the opportunity to further contact him if we had any other questions, this was massive opportunity and it allowed the people taking part to feel valued and to comprehen that there will be always be support in a business like deloitte.

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • The lunches were provided to us everyday and this gave us an opportunity to talk to the employees that were looking after us. There was also questioning time where we would ask the employees the sort of tasks that they performed in the business and what they liked and disliked about the job. Overall our input was really considered and many of the employees went into great detail when answering our questions.

    5/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • There were many opportunities to ask different employees, what activities they do outside from their work. Most of them mentioned travelling, many visit places such as London or calmer places such as Bali and other foreign countries. There was mention of cycling as deloitte has a yearly cycling track across Scotland that all employees get to enjoy.

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • Most definitely!! Majority of my friends don't know what social confidence is. This placement helped me developed this skill, I have always considered my self a confident individual and by going to the placement I learnt how to channel my confidence into the work place. This is something that any person would benefit from, development of skills is crucial in such a competitive world. The fact that deloitte puts that as their main focus makes this placement recommendable to anyone as every high school, college graduate or even working adult would benefit from a course like the one that deloitte provide for the simple fact that it integrates all the key features of a good employee.
