    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I really enjoyed working for the company, everyone that works here is really personable and a joy to be around and work with, the managers are especially nice and genuinely look out for you.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • My opinion was respected and valued. When changes were being made regarding the product we provide any feedback provided by myself was acknowledged and taken into consideration, As everyone sits on the same floor you can easily speak to anyone in the room and provide assistance or receive assistance.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • The initial 7 weeks paid training really helped. After that monthly mentor meetings with my supervisor as well as separate peer meetings every month really helps you grow professionally and technically. Any weaknesses and points for improvements are highlighted in a really constructive way which really allow you as a student with no real office environment experience to develop and improve.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Most days I am very busy as certain customers are constantly asking for support and changes to be made to the system they are using. The odd few days work would be slow, but it would never be boring.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • A lot more than I expected to be given. When connecting to customers you have access to the system they heavily rely on and you are trusted to make the right decisions and test any changes you implement thoroughly to make sure they work as expected.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The professional skills I gained from working in the office environment has been very beneficial. Looking at other peoples code on a daily basis has been very useful as I have learned how to read code and figure out what it is doing a lot faster.

    The Company

  • The perfect balance. Everyone works hard but you can always talk to anyone in the office and everyone is really approachable.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Very very organised. The initial 7 weeks training covered every aspect of the system we would be supporting and the monthly mentor meetings and peer meetings as well as the constant assistance was really well organised.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Loads of people at the company play different sports, we usually meet up after work to play badminton or even for a drink. Every Friday we get drinks at the company and its really sociable. Everyone that works here is really friendly and there is no one that works in the company I would feel uncomfortable approaching.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Drinks and food is the average price for down south. Around £300-£500 a month per person dependent on the quality of accommodation.

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • The closest Uni nightlife would be Brighton, as that is quite far to go every weekend the second best is Crawley, where the nightlife is not bad.

  • Many company events, countless meals out with drinks and food paid for. The Christmas do was amazing and there is the team building exercise every year.
