    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • An incredible experience! I would recommend a placement year to anyone, you definitely learn a lot.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Some colleagues I worked with a lot and felt very valued and then some weren't as approachable but I feel this is a good thing as it teaches you that not everyone you work with is going to be easy to get along.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I was lucky to have a great manager, a recieved regularly 1:1's on a weekly basis and also had a monthly target review to make sure my projects were all on track. I felt I had a great amount of support and if I needed to ask questions, my manager was very approachable

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • The great thing about the placement was each day was as different as the next. There were regular jobs/projects I needed to do on a weekly or monthly basis then I had other new projects as well, it was a great learning experience with a variety of different projects

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • One some projects I was able to manage them on my own and then other projects I would be working with colleagues. It was a great balance!

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Looking back at my first day at my placement and now 11 months on it's amazing how much I've learnt during my time. I feel I've definitely grown as a person and learnt a considerable amount. The skills I developed will definitely help me during my final year of university and at future jobs. Some skills came easy to me and others took more time, my manager was great as rather than just focusing on the skills I was good at I was able to do more projects using the skills I didn't have full confidence in yet to improve these.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • My team were great, very talented individuals and interesting to work with and always had good team support. I do feel the working environment lacked a bit of energy at times.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Very well organised, I recieved a welcome pack and also had an induction day. The only struggle was there wasn't an intern before me so I didn't have a handover document so this was definitely a learning curve but didn't put me off!

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I had regular meetings with my manager and she definitely encouraged me to work on more projects that I lacked less confidence in than other. The whole year was a massive learning experience and looking back at my first day it's incredible the amount I've achieved and learnt. I was treated as a full-time worker and given work that a full-time worker would rather than an intern.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised Canteen

    National Travel

    Above 25 days holiday

    5/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I'll definitely apply for a graduate scheme here

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Yes, I was part of the intern comittee so we put on regular intern events. There was about 80 interns there overall, many work in the production plant though. We all got along really well and it was useful as if we needed certain contacts or help from other departments we all worked together to help one another.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Chichester is quite expensive to other places but you are paid a good salary so I didn't struggle. My rent was around 400 PCM and drinks are standard southern prices.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • There is a few bars and one bar turns into a mini nightclub on a Friday and Saturday. The nightlife isn't too great but it's good if your out with a lot of you. Also, Portsmouth and Brighton aren't too far.

    3/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • I know the company had a 5 a side football group once a week. But I preffered to do my own thing outside of work, like going to the gym and meeting uni friends etc.

    4/5
