The Role
I really enjoyed it. I did a wide variety of skills needed for the increasingly competitive modern working environment. I tried video editing, article writing and even wrote my own computer code for a new app.
My colleagues were all in their mid 20's and treated us like their peers. Super friendly working environment and really supportive. As Vin Diesel says, we were "As a faaamily!".
My manager spent time with me each morning guiding me through the days schedule. He then gave me my own space to choose what parts to work on in what order and to get on with the work at my own pace.
I was busy enough to find it interesting but not completely exhausted. I think it was a good balance. Plus, on weeks I had coursework deadlines looming I was allowed to take those weeks off to keep my focus on my studies.
I was given full responsibility to write my own social media posts and articles. I could have done some real crazy things if I wanted to but instead the trust they placed in me made me enjoy the placement more.
I learned a lot from this placement. I learned all about SEO, computer code and gained confidence in writing articles and working in an office environment. I loved it.
The Company
There was a great atmosphere in the office. Lots of joking and playing around, support when I needed it and other interns to talk to. Also there was a PS4 in the office for break periods. It was really good.
I was one of their first ever interns and after an improvised first day it was really well structured and organised with the internship built around building different skills from computer code to sales to content writing.
The company spent a lot of their time on me and this made me feel more confident. The skills they taught me will pay dividends for years to come and I really think that they did an amazing job.
Flexi Time
Working from home
Id love to but first I want to pursue a masters and follow their advice to get out and see the world.
The Culture
Really good.
It was standard. Nottingham is a reasonably priced British city.
Nottingham has an awesome nightlife!
