The Role
The placement allowed me to work on a variety of projects covering a wide range of topics. This allowed me to try out a variety of fields and I was allowed to choose which projects I worked on based on what I enjoyed.
The staff were friendly and treated the interns like any other member of the staff.
I was generally left to my own devices, with my manager available if I required.
I always had a list of available projects to work on but was allowed to choose what I worked on and when. This meant there was always work available but I could do each project at my own pace.
All of my projects were done on my own with minimal supervision and I was given access to any resources needed to complete my projects.
It has given me the opportunity to gain practical programming experience which would allow me to get programming jobs in the future.
The Company
The office was friendly and open plan with a relaxed environment.
When I arrived alot of the equipment such as my laptop were not ready for another two weeks. This caused some problems with starting my work as I had to borrow other peoples equipment.
There were courses based on business skills but no official training in more practical skills such as programming.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Above 25 days holiday
There have been multiple new graduates employed recently in the department and so there is potential for future grad schemes.
The Culture
The interns went out multiple times outside of work.
Accommodation was quite expensive in the area and was not very available.
There was not much in Poole but a great nightlife in Bournemouth which is not far away and easy to reach.
There were multiple clubs available to join.
