The Role
My placement experience at ASOS has been thoroughly enjoyable. I have learnt masses from the company and my colleagues and made life long friends.
I have felt hugely valued. Despite being an intern, I have been treated the same as any other employee and any work I do is always appreciated by other members of the team.
My manager has been hugely supportive, not only providing me with guidance and support on internal work but also helping me with university coursework! This has made a massive difference to my confidence in my own ability.
This has very much varied on the time of year and employee absenteeism, but generally my day's have been busy but manageable.
I have been given been similar responsibilities to that of any other full-time junior employee in the team. Despite some tasks seeming challenging initially, learning how to manage and complete these tasks effectively and efficiently during my time in the role has massively prepared me for future study and professional roles.
Everything I have learnt during my time at ASOS is going to hugely support me in my future degree studies and professional roles. First-hand industry knowledge and experience will further my ability to relate areas of academic study to industry and provide me with a legitimate case study reference.
The Company
Relaxed, hard working, friendly.
The People Team and my department have made sure that my overall workplace experience has been really well organised. The People Team have organised monthly intern catch-up sessions, which has encouraged us all to get to know each other better as a group and my manager has also ensured I have had weekly catch-up meetings with her, where I have been able to raise any issues or concerns.
I have received a sufficient amount of training and development, however, do feel that other roles may offer further opportunity for additional training.
