    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I really enjoyed my time at London Studio Centre as it provided me with so many different opportunities. I have experienced every different sector of this company and it has opened my eyes as to what goes on behind the scenes at a dance college. I have also loved being able to watch students progress and develop throughout the year and being even able to be involved in that experience with then is amazing.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I felt that I was valued by all my colleagues as they respected my ideas and opinions just as much as everyone else. It gave me freedom to express my creativity and put my own stamp on the tasks that I worked on. I felt that I was asked for my opinions even on tasks that I wasn't assisting on which made me feel that they had seen the potential I have to offer to the industry.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I was given a lot of support by all members of staff at London Studio Centre. They were all quick and efficient in answering my questions and were always close by to offer me support on tasks that may not play to my strengths.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • This was dependent on the time of the year at what term we were in. I felt that I was extremely busy in the final term as there were a lot of events that I get involved in. I also felt that the longer I was at my placement the more opportunities I was given as I had been able to prove myself more and more on different jobs as time went on.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given a good balance of responsibility whilst on placement. Some tasks that I did such as Health and Well-being week repeated 3 times in the year so each time a new one began I was given more responsibility as I had gained experience and I knew how I could improve the next time I completed that task. This was the same for a few jobs I received.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I have learnt so many skills that will help me throughout the rest of my career and beyond. I have learnt many new skills especially in marketing and events which I had minimal understanding of before placement. I also feel that my time management and organisational skills have improved a lot which will be needed in the final year of my studies.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • There was always a great atmosphere in the office. Everyone was very kind and caring towards each other. There was also a lot of fun opportunities to experience as a office such as Move it 2017 and many dance shows which made me feel more included within the office. London Studio Centre pride themselves on creating a friendly and welcoming atmosphere and its very clear to see.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • London Studio Centre run like clockwork. Everyone knows when certain tasks are due by even if they are not a part of the job themselves. They also hold very regular meetings so everyone is clear on what they need to do in order to keep organised and well structured. Staff are also very keen to help in areas other than their own so that jobs meet their deadlines.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • In terms of my administration development the company invested a lot of time in me making sure that I developed in all sectors of the company as well as given me a range of jobs that require skills that I didn't have before completing that task. However I felt they could've allowed me to develop my practical and teaching skills whilst at the college as this would've helped carry on my training for the final year of my degree. I that because of this my skills in the practical aspect have decreased and I have had to invest a lot of my own time outside of placement making sure I am still training in the core techniques.

  • Flexi Time

    Company Parties/Events

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I feel working at London Studio Centre again would be very appealing. I have loved especially assisting the events coordinator Grace as this area is something I originally didn't express an intrest in. However now I love that part of the industry and would be more than happy if I was offered a chance to work in this area at my placement again. I have grown to love working with the staff and students at this dance college and would love to be able to carry on what I am learning and achieving after university.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • The colleagues were always inviting me to socialise with them which meant I got to know a bit more about them all and express my personality to them.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • I didn't live in the area where my placement was situated as I commuted from home each day. However the local area was very affordable in terms of socializing and food. It offered a range of different restaurants, bars and shops and for the price they were of a reasonable standard.

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • I didn't live in this area so I cant comment on this however from personal experience the nightlife in general London is great and heard to beat. It offers a range of different bars and clubs with all very individual and quirky themes to them making it hard to find clubs like it in any other area. Although the nightlife in London can be very expensive it is always and enjoyable experience with a lot to offer than just drinks and a dance floor.

    3/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Because of where my placement was situated the we many opportunities available to me on a regular basis. There were good quality dance classes, dance performances and events very near where I worked meaning the chance to get involved was very high. My placement were also very understanding and were willing for me to experience as many different opportunities as I possibly could.
