The Role
I enjoyed my internship since I was given the chance to interact with employees and managers from different levels, locations and different cultures and exchange idea and experiences. That allowed me to learn about the organization I was assigned to in total as well as how we fit with Siemens as a whole.
During my internship I feel that I was considered by my colleagues as an equal to them. I was included in meetings and my voice was heard. My opinion and feedback were taken into consideration for the projects I was working on, which made me feel highly valued and gave me the conference to give ideas.
My manager is working in a variety of projects at all time which means that she is extremely busy. Despite that she always tried to take time for us to discuss my projects and progress. Additionally, I was always encouraged to contact all members of the HR team in regards of a query.
I was included in a variety of projects which is a great thing in regards to gaining knowledge and developing my skills but it resulted in me being busy usually on a daily basis. I usually had a variety of projects that I was working on doing an analysis and meeting to attend.
I do believe that I was given great responsibility during the period of my Internship. The presentations I work in as well as the data I provided and analyzed were used I help in were presented to the Executives and/or would lead to actions being decided on projects. Additionally in some projects I was coordinating the actions and organized the meetings.
Siemens has an Internship Development Program with a list of modules that allows its interns to develop and feel confident in presenting their work and expressing their opinion. The modules are focused on helping the interns developing their skills in building rapport did discuss potential ideas with colleagues/managers as well as their presentation skills and how to answer unexpected questions. Moreover, I do believe that this Internship has helped me increase my confidence when presenting, discussing in meetings as well as my data analytical skills.
