    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I felt like I learnt a lot on my placement and i enjoyed finally being able to put my university knowledge to use. Admittedly, the first few months I did not enjoy as a lot of the time there was not much for me to do but once I got involved in a project I was able to do valuable work

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I felt my work was really appreciated as some of the work I have produced has been considered for using in other projects

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • There was always support for me there when needed. Whenever there was an issue with a particular part of my work, I was always able to ask for assistance and receive the help I needed

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • As mentioned before, the first few months were rather tedious as there was not much for me to do, however, once I was involved in a project I was given a lot of work and was able to produce real products

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I feel like I was given a lot of responsibility. I essentially did the whole Software development of a product on my own (of course, with some assistance)

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • As the work I did over my placement was very technical I feel like I will be able to apply my skills to both uni and any other industry involved with engineering

    4/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Everyone is really friendly. There is a very positive atmosphere and everyone is really approachable.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • In all honesty i'm not entirely sure because I don't know how its supposed to be. For example, I've heard that some placements already have something set up for the interns so that they're ready to start work from day 1. I felt like when i joined everyone did their own thing and i just had to go around asking if they needed help with something.

    3/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • There was a lot of training days where all the interns from all the sites would get together and undertake group tasks. This also included a seminar where we were taught things such as time management and making presentations

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    Company Parties/Events

    2/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • 3/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • 4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • about £500 a month including food and rent, but I eat a lot.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • lived in a village that was very boring.

    1/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • there was weekly football and a step challenge. Not much else.

    2/5
