    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Loved it! This placement was more than I ever expected. I enjoyed the fact that I can actually contribute to the final product and it made me work harder and give my best because I new that my contribution actually matters. It was an amazing feeling to work really hard and then see the final result and hold the actual game in my hands!

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • The EMEA office I worked in is quite small and I think that was one of the main reasons why everyone feels like family here. No matter how busy everyone is, they have always found some time to answer my questions or help me out. Also my colleagues didn't hesitate to ask my help when required and it made me feel a valued member of the team.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I received great support. My manager helped me a lot and encouraged me along the way. After almost every single task I have done she provided me with short but useful feedback. She either told me how I could improve, gave me advice if there was a more efficient way to deal with the task, or she used to encouraged me by telling me I did well.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • It varied from one day to another. The busiest period is before the announce of the game. So many localised assets, translations and other smaller tasks are requested that it gets crazy really quick. However that is the time when I enjoyed the most as I felt challenged to push myself forward. There are lots of days when it is fairly quiet and I could get on with my regular day to day tasks. No day was the same in this job.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Compared to other placements (which I both read about online and heard about from my friends) this placement gives you a lot of responsibility. I was responsible for ROE (Rest of Europe) game packaging and I was the person who used to say “this is good to go, we will proceed with print”. If I would miss out a mistake, that mistake could get printed and could have negative consequences such as damaged reputation in a particular country (e.g. if the mistake would be in the translation, title etc.), breaking the law (e.g. the mistake would be using the incorrect age rating for the country) and etc. Of course there were other people reviewing the packaging, such as my manager, printers and First Parties, however at the end of the day, the responsibility laid with me.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The main skills I have developed are project management, teamwork, communication, time management. These are the skills that every student needs to master in order to graduate with at least 2.1. In addition, I believe the experience I got while working as a Creative Services Marketing Intern will help me both in my career and in personal life as these are highly transferable skills which can be used almost everywhere in life.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • 3/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • 3/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • HR provided all of the interns with training such as “Presenting me”, “MBTI training”, “SAP” etc. I enjoyed the MBTI training. It allowed me to better understand my colleagues and other people in general. It made me think why people think in one way and another and allowed me to modify my actions to create better workplace relationships. The SAP training was useful as I was responsible for raising all Creative Services Purchase orders. This training was at the beginning of the internship and I found it quite useful. Even though my role did not involve many presentations, I would have enjoyed training session on how to present to other people.

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Sports and Social Club

    International Travel

    Company Parties/Events

    Staff Sales/Staff Shop

    Travel loan

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • We had a session organised by HR where previous interns who came back to work for Warner Bros talked about themselves and their journey back to the company. As a Creative Services intern, it would be quite difficult for me to be invited back to Warner Bros. as I have developed skills and knowledge which is very specific to this role. I believe that if I would be offered to come back, I would either have to take my manager’s role or a new and similar role would be created.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • 3/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Quite expensive. I cannot advice on the living costs, as I didn't live in this area, however socialising was quite expensive comparing with pubs next to my university (Westminster). However I liked the variety of pubs, clubs and restaurants available next to the office as we visited a new place each time we went out.

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • 3/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Yes! There were many opportunities outside of work, such as social events where people would gather to network with each other while watching a movie or having a drink. However my favourite opportunity was when I was offered to register for London Zoo Stampede 5k run. I saw many colleagues in the event and had a great fun running for a good cause! There were also many opportunities for volunteering.
