    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I've had an amazing time here at Warner Bros, and have thoroughly enjoyed being a part of the company for the past year! The job itself has been extremely interesting and I have learnt so much about the industry and how films are distributed. Another great thing about Warner Bros is that I have been working alongside 50 other interns, so have made some fantastic connections and friendships, as well as being able to enjoy this journey with a network of people that are going through the same experience.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I work in a relatively small team, so, as a department, we have such a strong relationship and bond because we work so closely together. Throughout my year here I haven't once felt like 'the intern', and have always been made to feel like a valid, worthy and appreciated member of the team.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Due to the size of my particular team, I have one line manager that I report to. For me this has been a definite positive as we have built such a strong working relationship over the past year. I am able to approach my line manager with any questions or queries that I may have, and similarly, he provides me with feedback, guidance and support where necessary.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • In my role, I have a list of weekly tasks that I have to complete, as well as a number of fortnightly and monthly tasks that need to be completed, so I always have work to be doing. However, with my department, our workload is entirely based on the number of releases that we have, and the size of the films that we are releasing. For me, this has worked perfectly because we can get extremely busy when we have a big release, however, this then calms down again when we have a slightly smaller release, so the workload is evenly balanced out.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I feel as though I have been given the perfect level of responsibility throughout my year here at Warner Bros! I used my first couple of months to learn about and show that I fully understood the basics, which then meant that my line manager set me bigger and more exciting projects and presentations that were sent to the head office in California!

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I have learnt so many valuable skills whilst being here. One of the most important skills has simply been how act in an office and interact with my superiors, but in a relatively relaxed environment. Additionally, at WB there are a number of training sessions that you attend throughout the year, such as 'project thinking skills', or 'presenting me', all of which provide you with ways and strategies to approach any tasks, projects or presentations you are set. Finally, on of the most important things for me is having a structure to my day, which is definitely something I will take back to University with me for my final year.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • There is a relatively relaxed environment in the the department that I work in. Everybody is very much in the same mindset, whereby, we all work extremely hard and put our all into the tasks that we have to complete, but then we are able to chat and have a laugh and a joke at the same time. For me, this is a great environment to work in, because it means that everybody has the motivation and dedication to work hard.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The work placement scheme at Warner Bros is fantastic! From the interview process right up to our very last day, there is an entire team that is dedicated to making sure that the internship runs smoothly. I have always been kept informed about everything that is going on at WB, and the intern training sessions have been so useful throughout the year. We have all been made to feel valued, and know who we need to approach should we have any issues (but there haven't been any!).

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • As mentioned previously, Warner Bros put on a number of training sessions throughout the year for the interns, that are entirely dedicated to helping us progress and make the most out of our time here. Additionally, there is a lot of 'training on the job', and line managers are always there to guide you should you need it.

    Subsidised Canteen

    Subsidised/Company Gym

    Staff Sales/Staff Shop

    5/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I would love to return to Warner Bros after I have finished University! They are such an amazing company to work for and really look after their staff! All interns are added to a mailing list of available jobs after we finish university, so we are very well informed regarding all available and future jobs.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • The social side to this placement has been fantastic! As mentioned previously, you will be working alongside 50 other interns, so there is an amazing opportunity to build a large network of friends to socialise with. Having offices in the centre of London definitely helps the social scene as there are so many surrounding areas to visit!

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • I live at my family home and commute into London as I live relatively close, so I haven't had any living cost, but have had travel costs, which isn't priced too badly. Socialising in the centre of London can be expensive, however, there are a number of venues in the surrounding area that offers deals and discounts to students, so you just need to know the right places!

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Being in central London, the nightlife is fantastic! There is so much going on, and so many great areas to try out! We tend to spend our evenings in Covent Garden and Leicester Square because there are so many lovely restaurants and bars in this area, however, we have also tried places such a Shoreditch and had great evenings!

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • We have a charity scheme within the company that provides you with the opportunity to do volunteering and get involved in some great schemes. For example, in November, I participated in a 'Sleep Out' for the homeless. We raised an amazing amount of money and it was the opportunity for me to experience and get involved in something that I wouldn't otherwise have done.
