The Role
The experience has been amazing, Warner Bros. have been a fantastic company to work for. Working in such an exciting industry I have learnt so much and met some incredible people. This year has given me a great insight into Business Continuity and how a successful business operates on a global scale. I feel very lucky to have been given such an incredible opportunity , I couldn't of asked for a better placement year.
I felt very valued, although I was part of a very small team I was given real responsibility and was relied upon which is exactly what I wanted to gain from my placement experience. Everyone at Warner Bros. made me feel very welcome and I have been fortunate to meet and work with some great people. My colleagues have been very supportive and were always happy to help. My role allowed me to interact with employees across the business which allowed me to develop excellent working relationships.
My manager has been extremely supportive throughout my placement year and has helped me develop many skills. Her door was always open if I had any questions or needed assistance. Even she was out of the office, it was very easy for us to keep in contact and we had regular catch ups.
My workload varied throughout the year depending on what was happening in the business and around the globe as well as projects that my department would be working on. At times it was slightly quieter, but I always had a task to complete. It was nice to have a good balance.
Every day was different and I was able to get involved a number of different tasks and projects which I really enjoyed. Some of my key responsibilities included managing my departments accounts and reconciliation , maintaining emergency supplies held in the EMEA locations, ordering and distributing departments merchandise and updating business documentation. I also was responsible for specific department projects such as First Aid Workshops and the Placement Recruitment Process.
At the start of my placement I was given an Intern Training Schedule. Throughout the year I attended various training courses such as Project Thinking, which has helped to develop my organisational and time management skills. I also attended a session called Presenting Me, which helped my presenting skills. At the start of the year I attended an External Excel Training Course which I found extremley useful. My IT skills have vastly imporved this year and it has been great to be able to use different tools and programs. The skills I have learnt and developed I can take forward with me in my final year at University and in my future career.
The Company
The office atmosphere was great, everyone was really friendly and helpful. My floor was particularly quiet but this was good when you needed to concentrate on specific tasks. Around Christmas and peoples birthdays there were many social events happening in the office and I have been able to meet people from various departments.
The placement was really well organised. At the start of the year we were provided with an Intern Training Schedule which ran various training courses. At the end of the placement there was a 'Reviewing the Internship' session which gave advice on CV writing and transaction back to university. We were also provided with a 'CHAT' appraisal form to record our Goals and Objectives for the year and for our managers to review our progress.
I was really impressed by how much Warner Bros. invest in developing their interns, they really want to make sure you get the most out of the year. I was also fortunate enough to attend an External Excel Training Course which provided me with useful IT skills that I was able to utilise on my placement year. The skills I have learnt and developed this year have been extremely useful and I can take forward with me for the future.

I have loved for working for Warner Bros. and would definitely look to work for the company again. Unfortunately, there isn't a grad scheme and my team is very small so I'm not guaranteed a permanent job role. However, many interns do return to the business and this is definitely something I would be interested in.
The Culture
The social scene amongst the interns was excellent. There are lots of other students working in the company in the same position as you, and it’s easy to meet people. Lots of the interns house shared and there were always parties, drinks after work, meals etc. I have made some great friends this year.
I lived at home during my placement year so was fortunate enough not to have to pay London rent! London is expensive, but there are cheap and expensive options. Lots of bars and clubs have offers such as Happy Hour which makes socialising cheaper.
London is great for nightlife, there is always something to do. Warner Bros. office is located right in the heart of London, just 5 mins from Covent Garden and Piccadilly which is great as you are so central. There is always something happening and there are lots of options of bars and clubs.
Working for Warner Bros. has also meant I have been able to get involved with charitable activities. I am a member of Impact - the company’s global giving programme. This year with my colleagues, I was able to take part in CenterPoint’s Annual Sleep Out event in London to rasie money for young homeless people in the UK . I have also been fortunate enough to attend the Sully and Collateral Beauty film premieres in London. Being able to get involved with other aspects of the company has also been a great highlight.
