The Role
A placement year at Warner Bros is an amazing experience for anyone interested in the media industry. Being able to work with some of the best people in the business, at one of the leading industry firms is unbeatable experience for both your CV and your relationships. Personally I have had a dream year and I would recommend it to anyone.
At WB an internship is more of a full time role, so you are given your own tasks and responsibilities which tie in with everyone else's work. For this reason you feel very valued and involved with the full time staff, and you are treated like any other employee.
Obviously this comes down to the manager themselves, but for me I had a great relationship with all my managers, who were always eager to help me through my work. The company also offers you numerous training sessions throughout the year to boost your professional and relationship skills.
Very! Every day is different, and there are always new tasks to do and projects to get involved with - down days are treated as a luxury rather than the norm.
As I mentioned previously, an internship at Warner is a 12 month full time job. You are not shadowing or working a long side someone, you have your own tasks and responsibilities and it is up to you to make sure you get the work done. So responsibility is high, however you always have the support of your team and manager to make sure you are never overwhelmed or uninstructed.
The knowledge and relationships I have built here make very confident that I will get a job coming out of university. Building healthy relationships with people both in the company and outside helps you get the foot in the door, and then the experience and skills I have learned will help me come out as the best person for the job.
The Company
Office atmosphere was great, especially leading up to a major film or game release. Like any office it has its ups and downs, stressed times and relaxed, but overall all employees are very nice people who are eager to pass their knowledge onto you and always up for a good time. Also working with in a media giant like WB, there are amazing perks such as film premiers, staff discounts and if your lucky enough European tours.
WB has over 50 interns at any one point, so they have the system pretty much nailed. Most people start and finish at the same time, so you go through the year with a group of people in the same boat as you. Everyone has their own team and manager who's job it is to guide you through the year and get the most out of you in your 12 months.
As I mentioned before the company offers many training sessions, as well as lunch n learn opportunities so there are always new workshops to take and skills to learn.

Often in this company, ex interns are first choice replacements as junior people leave the company or new roles open up. As long as you prove you are a good employee, and a role is available for you as you finish your degree, a job may very well be on the cards.
The Culture
Absolutely! As I mentioned there are over 50 interns at any one point, all based in London. The social scene is great, with usually weekly meet ups early on that then grow to regular friendship groups. It just comes down to being proactive as a group to organise things.
Central London so not cheap... most people either chose to live at home, or share houses in areas a bit further out such as Mile End. Socialising can be cheap or expensive depending where you go, but it's a paid internship so the cost of a few pints is manageable in most cases.
Once again its Central London, so plenty of bars / pubs / clubs all around - you just have to explore and find the best places for you. Most of the best spots are passed over in the handover week anyway.
Plenty of opportunities, both for and organised by interns and also for employees generally. Plenty of sports teams & sponsored / charity events.
