The Role
My colleagues really made me feel like a part of their team and gave me real responsibilities and beyond just making teas and coffees for everyone.
I often had to make decisions when some of my colleagues were busy or out of the office. They empowered me and stuck by every decision I made. Sometimes I made a mistake, but they were always behind me and supportive, and we dealt with the consequences together no matter what.
My supervisor, and in general the people I worked with in Siemens are incredibly helpful and amazing. Even though a lot of the time my team gave me independence to complete projects and task completely on my own, they were always ready to stop what they were doing at a drop of a hat to help me or explain something to me if I needed it.
It varied from week to week, even days to days. I noticed though, that I was less busy at the beginning of my internship, than I am now towards the end of it. Probably due to all that knowledge that they have filled my brain with!
I was given a lot of responsibility. Which was amazing and nerve wracking at the same time. My colleagues were always there to support me if I needed it, but there were some things I was left to complete on my own, and truly own the tasks. Even created training sessions for senior people and even calculated bonuses for senior managers... THINGS YOU TRULY DO NOT WANT TO GET WRONG!
I have apparently become a Shares Expert within the company! That just shows how much knowledge I have accumulated over the course of my internship, I even trained one of the new consultants on the subject of shares! I also learned many more important skills like how to run a steering committee and workshops.
The Company
It was really pleasant and relaxed. Everyone was always willing to stop have a bit of laugh and grab a coffee.
The placement was well structured with clear projects in mind for me to complete, though certain projects did just pop up and get added to my list. Which was great because I truly got to experience what people in the corporate sector endure.
Though the company gave me adequate training to complete my task and projects, there was no forward future thinking about me as an individual, and what training would be beneficial to me, until the very end of my internship.

I would love to keep working for Siemens, whether that is a possibility right not, that's a whole other question.
The Culture
Not always. I was lucky enough that I worked within a large department where there was other interns, however I know that this is not the case everywhere within Siemens. But there's always graduates, apprentices and of course interns around, so make sure to join the Next UK Committee to help socialize and connect with those groups!
It was affordable based on the salary we paid. Also the company provides a shuttle service to work wthin certain city areas, which helped reduce the cost of traveling and commuting.
No social life in Frimley.
There were a few, you just needed to know the right people. This is where the SSN (Siemens Social Network) is really useful! And don't forget the Next UK Committee for young starters!
