The Role
Working for the Bank of England is an amazing experience. Learning curve is very steep and you get the chance to meet high quality people.
Working environment at the bank is extremely rewarding in terms of great culture and people appreciating your work and knowledge.
During my placement with the Bank I was lucky to have an amazing mentor (line-manager) that aimed to not only support me in understanding the Bank different areas and interconnectedness but also to lay the stepping stones of my professional career (behaviour).
This is dependant on an individual basis. I aimed to make myself as busy as much as I can so that I can respectively learn as much as possible during my time with the Bank.
I felt I was given great responsibility as my work often reached high managing levels within the Bank of England. I also had the chance to conduct my own research and present it.
Experience you gain at the Bank is very diverse and it depends on your appetite also. The Bank provides various trainings which are really helpful for the work at the Bank itself and would be also helpful for scoring highly at University. Definitely a way of upping your technical and interpersonal skills.
The Company
Atmosphere at the office is very professional. This would depend on which areas of the Bank you work at... There are areas which are very dynamic and friendly whereas there are areas with very technically skilled people that lack interpersonal skills.
Placement scheme was well organised and I had the chance to communicate if there was something I disliked.
BoE invests highly in training its staff given the greatest asset of the bank is human capital.

I would love to come back to the Bank as it is a great organisation to work for.
The Culture
Definitely very friendly relationships with fellow colleagues.
London in general is very expensive compared to other cities. Given that BoE is at the city of London you would probably spend even more when going out for a drink.
Amazing, definitely worth it.
There were a lot of opportunities to get involved in outside of work activities as long as you are interested in conducting a proper research to find what is it that you like.
