    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • I had a great experience during the Spring Insight which provided me with a comprehensive overview of Rothschild's Global Advisory. The program was nicely spread out and we were required to complete a group M&A case study project by the end of the week which I felt gave us a very good insight into the actual work that they do. We were provided with very in-depth information about each company which I thought made the project very realistic and I had a lot of fun working with my group members.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • Throughout the program, from speaking to the Recruitment team to the people at the work shadowing and networking sessions, everyone was very friendly and excited to share which made me feel really welcome. In addition, the team did a great job in taking care of the interns, for example, we had a really nice reception on the evening of the first day.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • I received plenty of guidance during the insight. During the work shadowing sessions, it was a great opportunity for me to ask the analysts about the case study I was working on. They were very willing to help and provided me with very useful advice on how to approach it. I was also able to reach out to them if I had any additional questions or information I required, which was great.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The programme was very well rounded and provided us with the opportunity to firstly, learn, at a high level what each division of Global Advisory did, i.e M&A, equity and debt advisory, and following that we had the chance to ask our own questions and take those insights into the work shadowing sessions, where we were able to gain more granular insights into the day-to-day tasks that an analysts did. In addition, the presentations were really interactive which was great in giving us an insight into the types of skills and experiences that they've had in the industry.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • I thought that the insight was really well structured and there was sufficient time for short breaks between each program. We also had enough time to work on our projects, with certain slots allocated for it. In addition, we had a nice mid-week volunteering session with one of the charity partners Rothschild works with and that gave us a nice break, but at the same time allowed us to learn more about that aspect of the company.

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • I thought the atmosphere was really good, because everyone else on the Insight week programme was really friendly and approachable. I had a great time with my group members, and the programme was never too intense. The people there at the firm were also really friendly and it gave me a good impression of the culture at Rothschild.

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • The insight helped me significantly in understanding what a full time role was like at the firm. Before going for the Insight week, I had a vague understanding of what each division does, but after the programme, through work shadowing sessions and presentations, I not only had a better understanding of what a full time role as an analyst entailed but also the types of skills and specific challenges that they faced.

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • It gave me a much better insight into the company's culture. Being able to speak to different people from different divisions, what stood out to me about Rothschild was its collaborative and friendly culture. In addition, I thought what was great about each division's presentation was that the speaker always made an effort to highlight how Rothschild's independence and long-term focus translated into a better culture at the firm.

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • We had the chance to meet with senior bankers as well as analysts, through various lunch and tea receptions. Also, during the work shadowing session with the analysts, we were able to get to know them better and it also provided us with the opportunity to meet the team that they worked on.

    5/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • The networking and social events were really well organized. For example, we had a Director's tea session where there was a great platter of food and each director rotated around different tables which gave us the chance to talk to many of them. In addition, it was great to see the different employees we met during the insight week at the farewell drinks.

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • Definitely. We had a session introducing the different opportunities for Rothschild employees to get involved with community work, and the different avenues for them to start their own programmes if they wanted to. On top of that, we had the chance to do a volunteering session with a charity organization which I really enjoyed.

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • I would definitely recommend this insight programme. First of all, it does a great job of introducing what Global Advisory does and provides plenty of opportunities to speak to people from the firm. In addition, the people on the programme were great, and the schedule was well organized and there was no point in time where I felt that we were just being rushed along.
