About You
I really enjoyed spending a week at PwC. They made me feel really welcomed and showed me round all the offices and explained to me what my role would be like not only in the upcoming week, but if I were to join them as a full-time graduate. You spend a week shadowing a female business leader and experiencing everything she does.
I felt really valued during my time with PwC, especially as it was just me shadowing the female leader and not with a group of other students. It is truly a one to one experience to gain a real insight into what it would be like working at PwC, getting to meet many of her colleagues and getting a real feel for the environment.
You get a half an hour talk with your leader at the beginning of a week to get a feel of what the week will entail but after that you begin your work shadowing. Although you are left on your own working alongside people you always feel that there is someone there to give you support if you need it.
To a very large extend, everything was true first hand experience of the work that is done at PwC and I picked up so many skills from attending meetings and preparing presentations. In general, the week helped me improve my confidence and networking skills. All of these skills I feel will assist me in both my degree studies and my future career development.
The Company
I was sent a copy of my timetable at the start of the week and received a 30 minute debrief with the leader I would be shadowing. Everyone knew I was shadowing that week and they were all extremely friendly and helpful in assisting me. They also set aside time for interview prep as the week ended in a formal interview.
The general atmosphere was very positive and friendly. All the staff were friendly and welcoming from the moment I arrived, they were always on hand to chat to me and answer any questions I had. Everyone seemed keen to ensure that my time spent at PwC was very well utilised and they all answered any questions I had.
They invested me to a great extent, I was constantly given feedback throughout the programme. Even just allowing me to shadow a senior female employee shows how much they invest into this programme. I could get help whenever I needed it and all the members of staff constantly ensured I was making the most of my time at PwC.
It helped me understand what it would be like to have a full time role with PwC to a large extent. As you participate in direct work shadowing, I feel there is no better way of gaining an understanding of what a full time role would entail. I was able to go to meetings, produce presentations for the staff and look at different work they had produced.
Spending a week in the PwC office enabled me to get a great understanding of what their corporate culture is like and how well I fit into it, which I think is important when considering who I want to work for when I graduate. I really liked PwC’s culture and how consistent it is and how friendly it is.
Very valuable, I had previously attended insight events with various accounting firms but this helped me decide the most. Actually being able to go into the office and get a real feel for what it would be like working for a large professional services firm really helped me understand what went on and how the different service lines operate. I am almost certain I want to work in professional services when I graduate.
Everything Else
I was paid for the week.
Constant networking opportunities with members of staff.
Constant networking opportunities with members of staff.
Yes I got to learn about different activities and sports clubs there are.
Definitely, it provides invaluable experience for anyone considering a career in professional services.
