    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • I enjoyed the insight programme a lot. It was an invaluable experience, and I certainly learned a lot about Rothschild, its devisions and global advisory in general. Would definitively recommmend it.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • I felt very valued during my time at Rothschild. The whole week was very carefully planned to make best use of our time at the firm, and ensure we could get out of this week as much as possible. The employees were all very friendly, and it was very easy to feel comfortable throughout the week due to the family environment at Rothschild.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • Everyone was very supportive throughout the week. The Human Resources people were always ready and willing to answer any questions we had. Also the employees provided us with guidance - for example we could ask the analysts for help while working on our group project (we had to evaluate whether a M&A between two firms should happen, and then prepare a pitch book based on our findings).

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • The week was very well structured, we could feel a lot of time has been put to prepare the activities and make sure out time at Rothschild was used in the best way possible. The activities during the week ranged from networking, work shadowing, presentations, group project to volunteering - at each stage of the week the participants of the Insight Programme knew exaclty that the whole week and the various activities were prepared just for them.

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • The atmosphere duirng the Insight was great. Everyone was very friendly and I was really happy I could meet so many enthousiastic, intelligent people. What was probably key to establishing such an atmosphere was the fact that Rothschild does not evaluate the students thoughout the week (as most other investment banks do) but rather gives the opportunity to learn about global advisory, the firm, employees etc. and to enjoy the week at Rothschild without having to be stressed of being evaluated at every point during the week. We also had welcome drinks the first night (just the students) which defintively helped to build great relationships within the group of spring interns from the first day.

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • On top of participating in many networkign events, we had the opportunity to do work shadowing on two different occasions (Wednesday and Thursday). Two students were assigned to one analyst, and each analyst was supposed to explain his day-to-day tasks, show us in details how to do a pitchbook, etc. This meant we could get a very good idea of what exaclty an analyst does, and how our first years as full time analysts at the firm woud loook like.

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • Rothschild has a very specific and unique culture. The bank has existed since more than 200 years, and due to the family presence and environment since its beginnigns offers a very special experience to the employee. Everyone is very proud and happy to work for such a firm, something that can be very easly felt in the environment and culture that exists within the firm. Being able to experience Rothschild's culture during the week was ceratinly much more valuable than reading about it online or hearing from other people.

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • Rothschild reumburses any travel expenses (as well as the accomodation ones if the student is not from London). The firm also provided us with lunch everyday (and sometimes even with dinner). Coffee, tea and snacks (free) were also availble each day.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • There were plenty of opportunities to network and meet Rothschild employees (and from what I have heard from friends, much more networking opportunities than at other banks). These opportunities ranged from work shadowing, lunch networking with analysts to afternoon teas with directors(!). We had at least one networkign event each day.

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • As mentionnned above, there were plenty of opportunities to network with Rothschild employees, hear about their experiences within the firm and the industry etc. I was very pleased with all these opportunities we were presented with. The networking events certainly exceeded my expectations, and allowed me to exchange with plenty of people.
