    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • I really enjoyed this insight. I knew I would be receiving information about the company and the division but I did not realise how lovely and helpful the staff would be. It has made me sure that I would like to now pursue a career with Deloitte.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • With the selection process not including an interview, I expected many students to have been there, however, there were about 50 students which made me feel as though Deloitte really wanted me there and that they thought I am a good fit for the company. The staff were very helpful and tried to address all questions, I don't think anyone felt left out in the events organised. I definitely felt welcomed and valued.

    4/5

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • The HR staff made it clear what the agenda would be and were happy to answer any questions. I was never left wondering what is going on and what I should be doing. The guidance was helpful when answering questions particularly for applying for future programmes.

    5/5

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Attending this event made it clear to me which division in finance would be most suited to me and this has meant that I am going to partake in more activities in and outside of university to gain exposure to this area to make it easier to excel in this field in the future so the information received has assisted me a lot. In terms of skills, I increased my team working skills and adaptiveness to different people which will be useful in a workplace environment.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • The insight had been well structured in most aspects however during Q&A sessions with graduates there were points where there were not enough time for all of our questions to be answered and also times where there had been too much time so it may have been better for these events to be more flexible to prevent any awkwardness or unanswered questions.

    3/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • The atmosphere had been positive and welcoming. It was nice not be in a lecture hall environment as everyone had been more engaged and had an opportunity to be heard.

    4/5

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The event had only been two days so it was more informational than hands on training. Nevertheless, it is clear to see Deloitte invest in training their staff during internships and other graduate jobs. They gave advice on interview skills and commercial awareness which helped my personal development for applying to jobs in the future.

    3/5

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • The wide exposure to staff in different roles really helped to understand what a full-time role would be like. I am looking forward to the supportive and innovative nature Deloitte embraces. I imagine it is an environment for growth and collaboration. It would have perhaps been useful to have a couple more days to learn more about the company culture and paths other employees have taken when joining..

    4/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • Before attending this event I initially thought the company culture would be extremely formal and perhaps strict? However, as soon as I arrived and met the receptionist I was welcomed with a welcoming attitude and this carried on throughout the two days. It was a very opening environment where you could be comfortable in your own skin which was very nice to be in.

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • The recruiting staff (Nicole, Katie, and Sonal) designed the day with exposure to Audit, Financial Advisory, Tax, Consulting, and Risk. Within these divisions, we were able to speak to people working within them or people who have switched between them so hearing their experience and chances for career development really helped for me to decide my career path. I am now quite sure I want to pursue a particular type of consulting because of this event.

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • I have currently not sent off my travel expenses form but they do cover travel costs up to £50 as long as it is standard travel as opposed to opting for first class tickets when selecting your train ticket and they also provide overnight accommodation (Waldorf Hilton) for the first day which is where the networking dinner is also based.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • There were many sessions where experienced graduates would come to speak to us about their experiences where we were free to ask questions. We also had an excellent networking three-course dinner with senior employees, it was useful to be outside of work as it was a calm environment and you could speak to employees as they are your friends.

    4/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • Initially daunting as I had never networked before but once I did friendly, insightful and useful. During the day we got the opportunity to ask questions with current staff but limited networking opportunities however during the dinner we got to engage and create networks. There was not much time for social opportunities other than this as the days had been packed with information however after speaking to someone who had done the SVS I understand there is time for social events during it.

    4/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • This is the only area I felt the programme was lacking to explore. There is a lot of information on their website which helps to demonstrate that they are working hard to create a good work-life balance but no examples were given of activities we can get involved in outside of work. This is a question I regret asking about.

    2/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • I definitely would recommend this insight to a friend as it was very helpful in deciding the career I want to pursue which is really useful for a first-year. In addition to this, it gives you a competitive edge as you have the opportunity to be fast-tracked onto their summer vacation scheme which is something I had been interested in. It also dispels myths that surround professional services firms.
