Spring into Deloitte Review

I really enjoyed Spring into Deloitte as it was an enjoyable and informative two-day program which really gave a good feel for Deloitte and what it would be like working for the firm. It was quite relaxed and you didn't feel like the people running the program were judging you over the two days.

I felt very valued on the Spring into Deloitte program. The time dedicated not only by the recruitment staff but other employees from either the Glasgow or Edinburgh office was excellent and they really considered and answered any questions I or other participants had. They had obviously carefully considered how to structure the program.

We received lots of support and guidance throughout Spring into Deloitte. By having staff from lots of different service areas attend, it meant whatever area you were interested in, you could ask specific questions that you had. Also, the recruitment staff spent time giving us advice on how to excel in the selection process.

I think the information we received will help me in my degree because it gave us a good understanding about the day-to-day job and how this differs according to which service are you join. This will be especially helpful when it comes to applying for internships and deciding which service area suits you.

The insight was very well structured. The first day was packed with different talks, case studies and even a talk from a behavioural psychologist about how to present yourself correctly. The second day was more relaxed and I thought this was good because it made it feel more relaxed than the first day.

The general atmosphere throughout the whole insight was brilliant. The recruitment staff really encouraged everyone to network and get to know each other. This made the whole experience very enjoyable and the group all got on well. Some of us even went for a drink after the last day of the program.

The firm definitely invested in your personal development - especially the behavioural talk from Judi James. She gave a really good insight to how to present yourself whether presenting or in an interview. Also, through attending the event Deloitte have fast-tracked our applications for the Summer Vacation Scheme for next summer.

The insight definitely gave us a good understanding of what a full-time role would be like at Deloitte. The case studies were run by people who actually work within the area so you could ask they exactly what their job is like. Furthermore, the case studies gave you example situations.

Spring into Deloitte gave us a really good insight into what the firm is like and their culture. There was a real emphasis on the relaxed atmosphere. Staff hot desk and this allows them real flexibility about where they work. Additionally, working from home is encouraged as like they told us, as long as the work is being done, they dont mind where you do it.

For me, the most valuable thing I learnt from Spring into Deloitte is that it helped me identify which areas I did and didn't want to work for within Deloitte. By hearing about the different roles, I identified the service lines which interested me and those which didn't appeal to me as much.

We were given £50 towards travel expenses to Edinburgh. However, Deloitte also put us up in the Radisson Blu in a beautiful room. We didn't have to pay for a thing while we were there. All meals were given plus snacks throughout the day. Deloitte even paid for taxis to take us to the hotel.

We were constantly meeting employees from different areas of the firm as employees from each service area ran the case studies. Furthermore, the second day we were given the chance to chat to graduates who had joined Deloitte and they explained more about the internship and graduate programs and how they found it.

There were numerous networking and social opportunities throughout the two days. You had the opportunity to chat with employees of Deloitte during the days activities. The best opportunity was the dinner we had on the first night. Deloitte employees attended the dinner and mingled with all of us during and afterwards.

We did hear about a couple of the opportunities Deloitte employees have outside of work. However, the main focus of the days activities were different service lines and what they offered. We found out more about the social aspects of working at Deloitte at the dinner through speaking to employees.

I would definitely recommend this insight to a friend. The fact you get fast-tracked is great because you're ahead of the game whilst also having a good understanding of Deloitte, the culture and the opportunities within - which helps you identify if Deloitte is the place for you. It wasn't just informative, it was a really enjoyable experience.
