    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I have enjoyed my placement. The company has gone through many changes meaning that my role is not the same as day 1. I have had many opportunities to part take in project work and get involved in other activities within the business. I would certainly recommend this placement to others

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Being between multiple teams, it did cause some confusion. For the most part I feel valued by my colleagues. I have received a lot of feedback and recognition from them and have had lots of advise regarding my future career. Every quarter my team holds a team event, where we go out and have some fun for an afternoon.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Since starting, I have had many managers due to the organisation restructuring. During their role transition I was often missed out. This is partly due to my complex reporting structuring. I have 2 managers who try their best to support me but being between 2 teams means that they often do not understand the work that I perform. I have a work mentor how supervises me on a more day to day basis and he is always there when I need help with something. I also have a number of buddies (Graduates and full-time staff) to support my placement experience.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • My core tasks take up about 50% of my week, this allows the remainder of my time for project work. Some weeks are busier than others but this depends on the number of projects and other tasks on that week. There is always an opportunity to shadow my colleagues role when I didn't have my own work.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Due to the nature of my role and the tasks I perform, I was not always allowed to sign off on my own without getting approval from another member of the team. This is the same for everyone. Some of my tasks were crucial to the business and without my completion of them, the business could be in serious financial or legal issues.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I have had many opportunities to use my linguistic skills, which has been great as I minor in languages. My experience from uni has not really come in particularly useful this year but I have learnt some key skills and techniques for final year. I have certainly learnt a lot about the business but it has not necessarily been related to my degree

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Very relaxed, certainly never a dull moment. My team was a barrel of laughs. I loved working with them. There was many professional and social events going on. The great place to work team made every day special and there was always something going on. There was some bad atmosphere during the org restructure but that it to be expected

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • I was offered my placement rather quickly, the hiring process was quick and very easy. Especially for students with not much free time to apply for things. From a finance perspective, I cannot complain about the scheme and its organisation. Our scheme lead always ensures that we keep in contact with each other and always supports us

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I have had training which is relevant to my role. I have also had many opportunities to shadow other tasks. Upon joining the company there was a lot of training both general business and role specific. There is lots of training through our online portal that you can pick and choose as ou wish

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    Sports and Social Club

    Subsidised/Company Gym

    Financial Bonus

    Company Parties/Events

    Above 25 days holiday

    Working from home

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Most of the interns who have done my role have been offered a graduate role, I am hopefully that I will offered a role upon graduation. Normally these opportunities are discussed towards the end of a placement. There are lots of graduates in my team so I am hopeful that I will get an offer to return to the company.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • At lunches we have a table football competition and it's great fun. There are always opportunities for socialising at lunch and you can always find an intern in the canteen. There are lots of opportunities to socialise at lunch.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • I cannot really comment on this as I commute on a daily basis. I don't really see the other outside of work but there are lots of cheap restaurants and pubs near the office. From a living perspective it is apparently alright cost wise

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • I cannot really comment on this as I commute on a daily basis. I don't really see the other outside of work but there are lots of cheap restaurants and pubs near the office. There are some clubs but I have never been in them

    3/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There are many opportunities here at Intel from volunteering in the area to attending off site events. You will always be able to find something to get involved in either inside or outside of the office environment. I have been involved in many different events
